Module A - Basic features of dynamic loading and response · Structural dynamic response of single- andmulti- degrees of freedom systems. · Equations of motions of the free- and forcedvibrations under periodic, impulsive and stochastic excitation. · Statistical properties of the response.
Module B - Dynamic analysis of continuous Systems. · Continuous systems; equations of motion forbeam in bending, beam in shear, rod in axial motion, rod in torsion and tautcable. · Free vibrations of 1D continuous system: themethod of separation of variables, natural frequencies and normal modes. · Forced vibrations of 1D continuous systems:Modal Analysis, Fourier analysis, the steady-state response to a harmonic load. · Discretization of continuous systems. · Use of FEM for the structural vibrationscalculations of continuous systems.
Module C - Calculation of the dynamic response of typical structures · Morison-type loading for flexible elements. · Piles with or without end mass. · Jacket platforms.
Module D - Fatigue strength models · Deterministic and stochastic modeling. · Dimensioning of offshore structures on thebasis of operational strength. · Evaluation of offshore structures fatiguelife cycle. · Design for safety. · Test cases.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods | The taught part ofcourse is delivered to the students by means of lectures, conducted with thehelp of computer presentations. Lecture notes and presentations will beavailable through the web for students to use in combination with thetextbooks. Lectures will be supplemented with homework assignments to developknowledge and computational skills on the various modulus of the course(dynamic analysis of discrete multi-degrees systems, 1D continuous systems, simple fixed offshore structures, fatigue life-cycle analysis). | ||||||||||
