Short CV
Dr. Theodoros Leontiou is an Associate Professor at the department of Mechanical Engineering. He teaches physics and mathematics courses in undergraduate programs of studies in the School of Engineering at Frederick University and his research specialization is in the field of computational physics. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the University of Manchester Institute of science and Technology (UMIST), which he received in 2000. After graduating from UMIST he received an Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS) and continued his studies where he eventually received his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in 2004 from the University of Manchester. His PhD thesis was based on the computational study of the quantum many-body problem in nuclear physics through the use of Monte Carlo methods. During the academic year 2004-2006 he worked as a postdoctoral associate at the University of Cyprus in the field of Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (LQCD). Between the years 2007-2010 we worked as Special Teaching stuff at the Cyprus University of Technology and carried out research in the field of Solid-State Physics. He is a faculty member at Frederick University since 2010. His current research involves the study of the Hadron spectrum in LQCD, the computational and theoretical investigation of the optoelectronic and mechanical properties of semiconductor nanostructures as well as optimization in heat-transfer problems.
