Dr. Maria Georgiadi is a Collaborative Academic Staff in the Department of Education in the School of Education and Social Sciences at Frederick University. She currently teaches at the (Med) Special Education (Distance Learning) program. Furthermore, she is a qualified educator/psychologist. She holds two Bachelor Degrees. Specifically, she completed her first one at the Primary Education department at University of Patras and her second one from the Psychology department at University of Crete. In addition, Dr. Maria Georgiadi has a Master degree in Special Education. Following that, she obtained a PhD in Education/Psychology with a specialisation on Health Psychology and Special Education. She has teaching experiences in several educational contexts (University of Crete, Institute of Professional Development, Seminars of continuous professional development, mbs college, open university) and also participated in several research projects. Finally, her research interests include children's chronic illnesses and issues related to their psychological well being, students with special educational needs, developmental disorders (autism, mental retardation etc) and developing intervention programmes for parents, teachers and students.
