Dr. Chrysanthi Kadji Beltran

Chrysanthi Kadji is an Associate Professor at Frederick University, Vice Chairperson of the Department of Education, School of Educational and Social Sciences and Coordinator of the MSc in Education for the Environment and Sustainable Development. She teaches modules related to Education for the Environment and Sustainable Development in undergraduate and post graduate programmes (Sustainable Development Issues, Research in ESD, ESD in primary and pre-primary education, biodiversity education, outdoors education in ESD etc) and the science education modules for Primary and Pre-Primary Education Programmes. She currently participates in funded research projects focusing on Educators’ professional development in ESD (e.g. ICT-enabled in-service Training of Teachers to Address Education for Sustainability; Professionalisation of Undergraduate Academic Teaching in different University departments for the integration of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals; ESD competences for Educators (development of the RSP - model); Visual art education in new times: Connecting Art with REal life issues) and in STEAM areas (e.g. Development of Professional development programmes for the use of Makerspaces in all levels of formal Education). Previous research focused on teacher education for promoting quality education through ESD in formal education; the use of the Media as a supportive tool for ESD in informal educational settings for the development of critical thinking, raising public awareness on SD, environmental responsibility in professional settings, and outdoors education as a non-conventional form of education for achieving ESD.
