Dr. Charalambos Chasos

Dr. Charalambos A. Chasos is Associate Professor in Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Frederick University. Dr. Chasos obtained a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1997. Dr. Chasos was awarded a PhD and a Diploma of Imperial College (DIC) in Mechanical Engineering from the Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine of the University of London in 2006. Dr. Chasos teaches in undergraduate and postgraduate programs of studies in the School of Engineering, and particularly in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Frederick University. Dr. Chasos’ research focused on development of two-phase flow models for direct-injection gasoline spray injection and atomisation, and the application of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methodology for the prediction and validation of two-phase flow and combustion processes in the cylinders of ICE. Dr. Chasos current research includes the modelling, simulation and validation of fuel injection from high pressure Diesel, gasoline and gas injectors in the cylinders of ICE, and the simulation of the combustion of conventional and alternative fuels in constant-volume chambers and in the cylinders of ICE. Currently, Dr. Chasos is a member of the Management Committees of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Actions CA22151, “Cyber-Physical systems and digital twins for the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries (CYPHER)” and CA20127, “Waste biorefinery technologies for accelerating sustainable energy processes (WIRE)”, and a member of the WP7 “Research to education” of the EU-CONEXUS-Plus “European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability”.

Ο Δρ. Χαράλαμπος A. Χάσος είναι Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Μηχανολόγων Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick, με ειδικότητα στις Μηχανές Εσωτερικής Κάυσης (ΜΕΚ). Ο Δρ. Χάσος είναι Διπλωματούχος Μηχανολόγος Μηχανικός του Εθνικού Μετσοβίου Πολυτεχνείου και κάτοχος Διδακτορικού τίτλου (PhD) και του διπλώματος του Imperial College (DIC) στη Μηχανολογία από το Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine του Πανεπιστημίου του Λονδίνου. Ο Δρ. Χάσος διδάσκει προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά μαθήματα στην Πολυτεχνική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick και συγκεκριμένα στο Τμήμα Μηχανολόγων Μηχανικών. Ο Δρ. Χάσος εκπόνησε έρευνα η οποία επικεντρώθηκε στην ανάπτυξη μαθηματικών μοντέλων για την προσομοίωση και την επικύρωση διφασικών ροών με έμφαση στην άμεση έκχυση και διάσπαση της δέσμης καυσίμου και του φαινομένου της καύσης σε κυλίνδρους ΜΕΚ. Ο Δρ. Χάσος επί του παρόντος εκπονεί έρευνα που περιλαμβάνει την προσομοίωση και την επικύρωση των φαινομένων έκχυσης από εγχυτήρες πετρελαίου, βενζίνης και αερίων καυσίμων, καθώς και τη διερεύνηση της χρήσης συμβατικών και εναλλακτικών καυσίμων μέσω προσομοιώσεων της καύσης σε θαλάμους καύσης σταθερού όγκου και σε κυλίνδρους ΜΕΚ. Επί του παρόντος, ο Δρ. Χάσος είναι μέλος της Διαχειριστικής Επιτροπής των Δράσεων COST Action CA22151, “Cyber-Physical systems and digital twins for the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries (CYPHER)” and CA20127, “Waste biorefinery technologies for accelerating sustainable energy processes (WIRE)”, καθώς επίσης είναι μέλος της ομάδας εργασίας του WP7 “Research to education” του EU-CONEXUS-Plus “European University for Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability”.
