Support measures for students affected by the war in Ukraine

It is with deep sadness and concern that we are observing the recent developments in Ukraine. We express our solidarity to everyone who is affected by the war and join the voices of the international community demanding the termination of hostilities. At the same time, as a University, our thoughts are also with the students whose dreams and expectations are vanishing due to the consequences of the war.

As noted in a joint statement issued by EU-Conexus, of which Frederick University is a partner, and the other 40 Alliances of European Universities, as institutions we will remain inclusive to all students and academics and shall continue to provide various forms of support to all who are affected by this tragic situation.

Implementing this decision and in alignment with other Universities, we decided to introduce a special-purpose scholarship scheme for all students whose studies have been affected by the conflicts. The scholarships apply to all undergraduate studies, fully cover the tuition fees of the first year and 50% of subsequent years.

The number of scholarships is dependent upon the available positions that each department can accommodate. Interested candidates are requested to contact the Admissions Office the earliest so as to be informed about the application procedure, eligibility, admission / transfer criteria, student visa procedures, and other details relating to this scholarship scheme.

It is noted that the above are fully in line with the recent announcement by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA) considering the cases of students affected by the war in Ukraine that wish to transfer and continue their studies in Cyprus.
