Mr. Alistair Stevenson

Short CV

Alastair is the Head of SSY's Digital Analytics group in London, undertaking detailed analysis of shipping markets, including trade flow analysis and maritime decarbonisation, for the world's largest independent shipbroker. He has over 25 years experience trading and analysing commodity and freight markets, both in public and private sector roles. This has included front office trading and analysis roles with Citadel and Koch Industries, trading dry bulk commodities and freight in both physical and financial capacities. Previously, Alastair initiated and managed PIRA's, now S&PGlobal, International Coal consultancy based in New York and was also closely involved in PIRA's electricity practice. He commenced his career working on trade and climate change policy for the Australian government at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics, as was then seconded to the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre in Tokyo. Alastair holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics (hons) from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Since September 2024 also serves as a Collaborating Academic Staff member in the International Trade and Shipping Management Master's Program at Frederick University of Cyprus.
