Η Κατερίνα Καρατάσου είναι Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Νεοελληνικής Φιλολογίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick και συντονίστρια του MEd «Επιστήμες της Αγωγής: Αναλυτικά Προγράμματα και Διδασκαλία». Διδάσκει επί σειρά ετών προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά μαθήματα του επιστημονικού της τομέα στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής του Παν/μιου Frederick καθώς και στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα «Επιστήμες της Αγωγής: Αναλυτικά Προγράμματα και Διδασκαλία». Κατέχει πτυχίο Φιλολογίας (Παν/μιο Κρήτης), μεταπτυχιακό δίπλωμα ειδίκευσης στη Νεοελληνική Φιλολογία (Παν/μιο Κρήτης) και τίτλο διδάκτορος νεοελληνικής φιλολογίας (Παν/μιο Κύπρο). Έχει διατελέσει μέλος της κυπριακής κριτικής επιτροπής Κρατικών Βραβείων Παιδικής και Νεανικής Λογοτεχνίας (2013-2015, 2016-2018) και της «Συμβουλευτικής Επιτροπής Επιχορήγησης Μεταφράσεων Έργων Κυπρίων Λογοτεχνών από την Ελληνική σε Ξένες Γλώσσες» (2014-2021). Υπήρξε, επίσης, μέλος των επιστημονικών επιτροπών για τη συγγραφή Δεικτών Επάρκειας και Δεικτών Επιτυχίας του Προγράμματος Σπουδών Λογοτεχνίας της Κύπρου (Δημοτική και Μέση Εκπαίδευση). Είναι Γραμματέας του «Κυπριακού Συνδέσμου Παιδικού και Νεανικού Βιβλίου» και μέλος του Επιστημονικού Συμβουλίου του «Μουσείου Παραμυθιού». Διευθύνει και επιμελείται επιστημονικά το πρόγραμμα δημιουργικής γραφής για εκπαιδευτικούς «Εργαστήρια Συγγραφής Παιδικής και Νεανικής Λογοτεχνίας» (από το 2014) και τα προγράμματα δημιουργικής γραφής του «Ατελιέ Δημιουργικής Γραφής» του «Μουσείου Παραμυθιού» (από το 2018). Ηγείται της εθελοντικής ομάδας φιλαναγνωσίας «Μυθοπόροι». Τα ερευνητικά ενδιαφέροντά της εστιάζονται στη θεωρία και την κριτική των λογοτεχνικών ειδών, τη νεοελληνική λογοτεχνία (19ος και 20ος αιώνας) και τη δημιουργικότητα στη διδακτική της λογοτεχνίας. Μελέτες της περιλαμβάνονται σε πρακτικά συνεδρίων, τόμους και περιοδικά. Έχει επιμεληθεί τρία αφιερώματα περιοδικών στην παιδική και νεανική λογοτεχνία και τη διδακτική της και έναν τόμο για τη σύγχρονη κυπριακή παιδική λογοτεχνία (επιμέλεια σε συνεργασία): «Το όνειρο, το γέλιο και η εξέγερση στην παιδική και νεανική λογοτεχνία» (Ανέμη, 2013), «Δημιουργικές προσεγγίσεις του λογοτεχνικού γραμματισμού στη Δημοτική Εκπαίδευση» (Κείμενα, 2016), «Λογοτεχνικά παιχνίδια, στον κόσμο των πειρατών» (Ανέμη, 2022), Με το νήμα της εντοπιότητας. Σύγχρονες τάσεις και εξελίξεις στην κυπριακή παιδική και νεανική λογοτεχνία (ΚΣΠΝΒ / Καλειδοσκόπιο, 2023). Κριτικές της έχουν δημοσιευθεί στις εφημερίδες Αυγή, Εφημερίδα των Συντακτών και το περιοδικό Αναγνώστης. Έχει διακριθεί με το Βραβείο Δοκιμίου (2015) του περιοδικού Αναγνώστης για το βιβλίο της Λανθάνων διάλογος. Ο δραματικός μονόλογος στη νεοελληνική ποίηση (19ος – 20ος αι.).

Dr Katerina Karatasou is an Associate Professor in Modern Greek Literature at Frederick University. She is the coordinator of the MEd program “Educational Sciences: Curriculum and Instruction” (DL and conventional mode) (since 2018). She has been teaching in conventional, open and distance learning graduate and postgraduate programs for many years (Frederick University, School of Education and Social Sciences, 2014 until today; Hellenic Open University, 2004-2011, 2023 until today), and has participated in the development of several distance learning courses and programs. She holds a BA in Greek Philology from the University of Crete, a Master in Literary Theory from the same university, and a PhD in Modern Greek Literature from the University of Cyprus. Her research interests focus on genre theory and criticism, Modern Greek literature (19th and 20th century), and creativity in literary education. She has published several papers in academic journals, volumes and conference proceedings. She is / has been a member of scientific, artistic and award committees in the area of her expertise, such as “Cyprus’ National Awards for Children’s Literature”, 2013-2015, 2016-2018; “Annual Competition of Children’s and Young Adult Literature”, organised by the Cypriot Association of Children’s and Young Adult Books, sponsored by the Cultural Foundation of The Bank of Cyprus, 2013 until today; “Expert Consultants Committee for the Funding of Cypriot Literature Translation Projects”, 2014-2021; “Literature Curriculum Development Scientific Committee” (Primary and Secondary Education); Member of the “Academics Committee for the Development of Success and Adequacy Indicators: Literature” etc. She is a board member of literature, creative writing and reading promotion organizations such as “Cyprus Board on Books for Young People” (IBBY-Cyprus) and “Fairy Tale Museum”. She has thirteen years of experience in organizing and leading in service training programs for teachers, as well as training seminars, events, projects and workshops for educators, children, and young people in her field of specialization. She leads the volunteer reading and creative writing promotion group “Mythoporoi”. She is the founder and coordinator of Frederick University’s annual “Creative Writing Workshops’ Cycle”, addressed to educators of all school levels (since September 2014) and the co-founder and artistic coordinator of “Creative Writing Atelier” by “Fairy Tale Museum”, addressed to the general population (since September 2018).
