Sergey Popravko is an experienced professional with 45 years of expertise in the shipping industry. After serving as a Deck Officer and Master aboard tankers for more than a decade, Sergey transitioned ashore in 1994 to join Primorsk Shipping Company (PRISCO) as a chartering manager. Within three years, he was promoted to the position of Fleet Director. During his career, Sergey successfully completed professional examinations to become a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS). In recognition of his contributions, he achieved the status of Fellow of the ICS in 1998. In 2004, Sergey further advanced his career by assuming the role of CEO at PRISCO. From 2006 onwards, Sergey held the position of Managing Director at UNICOM then SCF MS, a prominent shipmanagement company headquartered in Cyprus. In this role, he oversaw comprehensive management operations for a diverse range of vessels, including oil and product tankers, LNG and LPG carriers, dry bulk vessels, offshore supply vessels, and shuttle tankers. Notably, over 70% of the fleet managed by UNICOM consisted of ice-class vessels capable of operating in harsh Arctic environments. Sergey's academic achievements include a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the Swiss Business School in Zurich and an MSc degree from the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmoe, Sweden. Throughout his career, Sergey actively served as a member on several prestigious boards. He held positions as a Board Member at the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Limited (ITOPF), Assuranceforeningen SKULD (Gjensidig), and the Cyprus Shipping Chamber.
