Dr. Nicoletta Christodoulou

Nicoletta Christodoulou is an Associate Professor of Curriculum Studies and Instruction at Frederick University, Nicosia, Cyprus. Dr. Christodoulou teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Education at the School of Education and Social Sciences. During 2014-2017 she was an Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction (with emphasis in equity and social justice) in the Department of Advanced Studies and Innovation, College of Education, Augusta University, Georgia, USA. During that time, she was member of the coordinating team for the EdD in Educational Innovation and member of the Quality Enhancement Plan committee of Augusta University. Dr. Christodoulou holds a PhD in Education with a focus on Curriculum Studies and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Chicago, Illinois, USA; a Master’s in Education from UIC with a focus on Instructional Leadership; and a Bachelor’s in Pre-Primary Education from the University of Cyprus. She is member and has leading positions in many professional, scientific organizations internationally and locally, including the American Educational Research Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies, the European Association of Curriculum Studies, the International Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies of which she was the Cyprus representative in the General Assembly for three terms, and local associations such as the Cyprus Pedagogical Association (Curriculum and Instruction SIG), POLI.S—Citizenship Association, and SYNTHESIS in Greece. Some of the funded programs Nicoletta developed and coordinated as Principal Investigator (PI) include: the Cyprus Oral History and Living Memory Project (COHP) funded by the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, and The Central Savannah River Area Education Oral History Project (CSRA-Ed.O.Hi.P.), funded from Augusta University, USA. She works with higher education institutions in Asia, including India and Indonesia, and in Africa to help strengthen the capacity and quality of teaching. She has also conceptualized, founded and coordinates The School of Nature, an innovative outdoor education program in Cyprus for children grade levels K-10. Dr. Christodoulou has published her research work in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and books, and has presented her work in international and local peer-reviewed conferences. Her teaching and research are in such areas as curriculum studies, curriculum theory, democratic teaching and learning, improvement of teaching, effective teaching, assessment for learning, teacher education, qualitative research, ethnography, narrative inquiry, learning experiences of students and teachers, politics of education, equity and social justice, oral history research, oral history education, grassroots movements and education, alternative education, outdoor education, forest pedagogy.

Η Νικολέττα Χριστοδούλου είναι Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Αναλυτικών Προγραμμάτων και Διδασκαλίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick στην Κύπρο. Διδάσκει μαθήματα σε προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα στη Σχολή Επιστημών της Αγωγής και Κοινωνικών Επιστημών και συγκεκριμένα στο Τμήμα Επιστημών της Αγωγής. Κατά την περίοδο 2014-2017 εργάστηκε ως Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Αναλυτικών Προγραμμάτων και Διδασκαλίας με έμφαση στην Ισότητα και Κοινωνική Δικαιοσύνη στο Department of Advanced Studies and Innovation, College of Education, Augusta University, Georgia, ΗΠΑ. Κατά τη διάρκεια αυτή, υπήρξε μέλος της συντονιστικής επιτροπής του Διδακτορικού Προγράμματος EdD στην Εκπαιδευτική Καινοτομία στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Augusta κι επίσης προεδρεύουσα επιτροπής για το Σχέδιο Βελτίωσης Ποιότητας του Πανεπιστημίου. Η Δρ Χριστοδούλου έχει PhD στην Εκπαίδευση με έμφαση στα Αναλυτικά Προγράμματα και τη Διδασκαλία από το University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), ΗΠΑ, Master’s στην Εκπαίδευση από το UIC με έμφαση στη Διδακτική Ηγεσία, και Bachelor στην Προσχολική Εκπαίδευση από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Είναι εκλελεγμένο μέλος διεθνών οργανισμών όπως, μεταξύ άλλων, το American Educational Research Association, το American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies, το European Association of Curriculum Studies και το International Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies στο οποίο υπήρξε εκπρόσωπος Κύπρου για τρεις θητείες, καθώς επίσης και τοπικών οργανισμών, όπως η Ομάδα Ειδικού Ενδιαφέροντος Αναλυτικά Προγράμματα και Διδασκαλία της Παιδαγωγικής Εταιρείας Κύπρου, ΠΟΛΙ.Σ—Όμιλος Πολιτότητας και ΣΥΝΘΕΣΙΣ στην Ελλάδα. Κάποια από τα χρηματοδοτούμενα ερευνητικά προγράμματα που η Νικολέττα εμπνεύστηκε, ανέπτυξε και συντόνισε είναι τα: Cyprus Oral History and Living Memory Project (COHP) με χρηματοδότηση από το Ίδρυμα Προώθησης Έρευνας, στο πλαίσιο του οποίου αναπτύχθηκαν συνεργασίες με εκπαιδευτικούς για την εφαρμογή του προγράμματος και χρήσης του υλικού σε δημόσια σχολεία, και του Central Savannah River Area Education Oral History Project (CSRA-Ed.O.Hi.P.) με χρηματοδότηση από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Augusta, ΗΠΑ. Επίσης εργάζεται με πανεπιστήμια στην Ασία, όπως Ινδία και Ινδονησία, και στην Αφρική για βελτίωση των προγραμμάτων τους και της διδασκαλίας, στο πλαίσιο ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων με ευρωπαϊκή χρηματοδότηση. Είναι η εμπνεύστρια, δημιουργός και συντονίστρια του Σχολείου της Φύσης στην Κύπρο. Η Δρ Χριστοδούλου έχει δημοσιεύσει άρθρα σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά με κριτές, κεφάλαια σε βιβλία με κριτές και βιβλία, και παρουσίασε τη δουλειά της σε διεθνή και τοπικά επιστημονικά συνέδρια με κριτές. Η διδασκαλία και τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα είναι στην περιοχή των αναλυτικών προγραμμάτων και της διδασκαλίας, μελέτη των αναλυτικών προγραμμάτων και θεωρία των αναλυτικών προγραμμάτων, δημοκρατική διδασκαλία και μάθηση, βελτίωση της διδασκαλίας, αποτελεσματική διδασκαλία, αξιολόγηση για μάθηση, εκπαίδευση εκπαιδευτικών, ποιοτική έρευνα, αφηγηματική έρευνα, εθνογραφική έρευνα, μαθησιακές εμπειρίες δασκάλων και μαθητών, πολιτικά παιχνίδια στην εκπαίδευση, ισότητα και κοινωνική δικαιοσύνη, έρευνα προφορικής ιστορίας, προφορική ιστορία και εκπαίδευση, κινήματα από κάτω προς τα πάνω και εκπαίδευση, εναλλακτική εκπαίδευση, εκπαίδευση σε υπαίθριους χώρους, παιδαγωγική του δάσους.
