Prof. Savvas Christodoulides

Savvas Christodoulides [b.1961, Pafos, Cyprus] lives and works in Nicosia. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts of Toulouse [1981-86] and at the University of Provence from where he received his PhD [2000-2006] from the faculty of Arts et Lettres. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the Venice Biennial [1996], the Athens Biennial [2009] and the Biennial of Sao Paulo [2012]. His latest solo exhibition took place at Eins Gallery (Limassol) in March 2021. He has published papers on art. In 2016 he edited the volume Andreas Chrysochos - Texts on Art and in 2016 the volume Dear koumparos - 12 letters of Christoforos Savva to Costas Economou. Recently (March 2021) he published the volume Considering colors through Michalis Pasiardis poetry. In January 2017 he curated the exhibition Landscapes - Selection of the State Gallery at Evagoras Lanitis Center in Limassol and in April 2017 the exhibition Rooms to contemplate at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Nicosia. In May 2019 he curated the exhibition Pentadaktylos / Contemporaries at A. G. Leventis Gallery in Nicosia. As professor, he teaches art and theory of art and architecture at the School of Architecture / Frederick University, Nicosia, Cyprus.

Ο Σάββας Χριστοδουλίδης γεννήθηκε στην Πάφο το 1961. Ζει και εργάζεται στη Λευκωσία. Σπούδασε στη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Τουλούζης [1981-86]. Πραγματοποίησε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές, ΜΑ [1999-2000] και PhD [2000-2006] στον κλάδο Γραμμάτων και Τεχνών στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Προβηγκίας. Συμμετείχε σε πολλές εκθέσεις, περιλαμβανομένης της Μπιενάλε Βενετίας [1997], της Μπιενάλε της Αθήνας [2009] και της Μπιενάλε του Σάο Πάολο [2012]. Το 2016 επιμελήθηκε την έκδοση “Ανδρέας Χρυσοχός - Κείμενα για την Τέχνη” και ένα χρόνο αργότερα την έκδοση “Αγαπητέ μου κουμπάρε - 12 επιστολές του Χριστόφορου Σάββα στον Κώστα Οικονόμου”. Το 2021 εξέδωσε το βιβλίο “Σκέψεις για τα χρώματα με αφορμή την ποίηση του Μιχάλη Πασιαρδή”. Τον Ιανουάριο του 2017 επιμελήθηκε την έκθεση “Τοπία - Επιλογές από την Κρατική Συλλογή” στο Κέντρο Ευαγόρα Λάνίτη στη Λεμεσό και τον Απριλίου του ίδιου έτους την έκθεση “Rooms to contemplate - Περιεχόμενο και προοπτική μιας συλλογής” στο Πολιτιστικό Ίδρυμα Τράπεζας Κύπρου στη Λευκωσία. Το Μάη του 2019 επιμελήθηκε την έκθεση “Πενταδάκτυλος - Contemporaries¨ στη Λεβέντειο Πινακοθήκη, στη Λευκωσία επίσης. . Κατέχει θέση πρωτοβάθμιου καθηγητή και διδάσκει θεωρία της τέχνης και θεωρία της αρχιτεκτονικής στην Σχολή Αρχιτεκτόνων -Μηχανικών του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick.
