Η Ντόρις Καΐλου είναι μέλος του Τμήματος Τεχνών και Επικοινωνίας του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick από το 2013. Πριν από τη θέση διδασκαλίας της στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick ως Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια στο πρόγραμμα Fashion and Image Design, ήταν επίσης μέλος του διδακτικού προσωπικού στο Frederick Institute of Technology από το 2004. Σήμερα διδάσκει μαθήματα σχετικά με τη μόδα και την υφασμάτολογια, την κατασκευή πατρόν και ενδυμάτων και το μάρκετινγκ για μόδα. Έχει επίσης εξειδικευτεί στην κατασκευή πατρόν με βοήθεια του υπολογιστή (CAD). Η Ντόρις έχει καθοδηγήσει τους μαθητές της σε διάφορους διαγωνισμούς και συνεργασίες στην βιομηχανία της μόδας. Η Ντόρις έλαβε το πτυχίο της στο Σχέδιο Μόδας και Υφασμάτολογιας από το Πανεπιστήμιο Τεχνολογίας του Σίδνεϊ της Αυστραλίας. Στη συνέχεια ολοκλήρωσε το μεταπτυχιακό της διδασκαλίας στο Σχεδιασμό και την Τεχνολογία στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Σίδνεϊ της Αυστραλίας. Τα συνεχιζόμενα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιβάλλουν το Σχέδιο Μόδας και Υφασμάτολογια και τη βιωσιμότητα του σχεδιασμού και ενσωματώνει ενεργά την έρευνά της στη μεθοδολογία διδασκαλίας της. Κατά τη διάρκεια της στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick, η Ντόρις συνέβαλε στο τμήμα βοηθώντας στην ανάπτυξη του νέου προγράμματος σχεδιασμού μόδας. Έχει επίσης συμμετάσχει στη διοργάνωση εργαστηρίων και παρουσιάσεων σχεδιασμού. Επί του παρόντος, η Ντόρις είναι ανώτερη ερευνήτρια στο χρηματοδοτούμενο από την ΕΕ πρόγραμμα: «Exploring Green Futures: Integrating the New European Bauhaus into Art and Design Education» (Futures Designed). Επιπλέον, είναι μέλος του διοικητικού συμβουλίου του The Fashion Heritage Network Cyprus, ενεργώντας ως σύμβουλος στην ανάπτυξη σχεδιασμού για διάφορα έργα σχεδιασμού μόδας. Παράλληλα με την ακαδημαϊκή της καριέρα εργάζεται και ως freelance σχεδιάστρια παιδικών θεατρικών κοστουμιών για το «Short Stories».

Doris Kailos has been a member of the Arts and Communication Department of Frederick University since 2013. Prior to her teaching position at Frederick University as an Assistant Professor in the Fashion and Image Design program, she was also a member of the teaching staff at Frederick Institute of Technology since 2004.  She currently teaches courses related to Fashion and Textile Design, Pattern Cutting and Garment Making and Marketing for Fashion. She has also specialized in Computer Aided Pattern Cutting. Doris has guided her students through various competitions and collaborations within the design industry. Doris received her BA in Fashion and Textile Design from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia and then completed a Masters of Teaching in Design and Technology at Sydney University, Australia. Her continuing research interests surround Fashion and Textile Design, and Design sustainability, she actively incorporates her research within her teaching methodology. During her time at Frederick University Doris has contributed to the department by assisting in the development of the new fashion design program. She has also been part of setting up workshops and design presentations. Currently, Doris is a senior researcher in the EU funded program: ‘Exploring Green Futures: Integrating the New European Bauhaus into Art and Design Education’ (Futures Designed). Additionally, she is a board member of The Fashion Heritage Network Cyprus, acting as an advisor on the design development for various fashion design projects. Parallel to her academic career she has also been working as a freelance designer in Children’s theatrical costumes for ‘Short Stories’.
