Mr. Pantelis Papadopoulos

Short CV

Delis Papadopoulos is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Architecture at Frederick University teaching Design in both entry, advanced and diploma level studios. He is interested in innovative design methodologies engaged in the transformation of site through spatial and material investigations of diverse scale and type focussing on human-centered build environments. He has a Masters in Architecture degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. On graduating he joined the New York office of Skidmore Owings & Merrill working on large scale civic and infrastructure projects. He subsequently joined the office of Peter Marino Architects in New York as senior designer on high end retail projects, as well as concept, material and prototype development. In 2005 he established his own practice in Cyprus with work ranging from urbanism to public pavilions, residential and interior design. He has participated in several architecture competitions winning First Price in both large scale urban design and small scale installation projects. He is co-founder of the group Sindishies responsible for organizing a series of workshops focusing on learning through making, 1:1 low tech fabrication methods and collaborations between students and rural communities around Cyprus. His works on paper have become the focus of two solo exhibitions.

Ο Ντέλης Παπαδόπουλος είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στη σχολή Αρχιτεκτονικής του Πανεπιστημίου Frederick στη Λευκωσία στον τομέα της Σύνθεσης, όπου διδάσκει μαθήματα που αφορούν αρχιτεκτονική σύνθεση και σχεδιασμό. Ενδιαφέρεται για καινοτόμες μεθοδολογίες σχεδιασμού που ασχολούνται με τη μετατροπή του χώρου μέσω χωρικών και υλικών ερευνών ποικίλων τυπολογιών και κλιμάκων με επίκεντρο το ανθρωποκεντρικό περιβάλλον. Σπούδασε αρχιτεκτονική στο University of the Arts και έκανε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Μετά την αποφοίτηση του, εργάστηκε στα γραφεία των Skidmore Owings & Merrill και Peter Marino Architects στη Νέα Υόρκη. Από το 2005 εργάζεται ως ανεξάρτητος αρχιτέκτονας και έχει εκπονήσει σειρά αρχιτεκτονικών μελετών και έργων διαφόρων μεγεθών και χρήσεων. Έχει λάβει μια σειρά από διακρίσεις σε αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς μικρής και μεγάλης κλίμακας. Είναι συνιδρυτής της ομάδας ‘Συντισιές’ που είναι υπεύθυνη για τη διοργάνωση μιας σειράς εργαστηρίων με επίκεντρο τη μάθηση μέσω της κατασκευής και τις συνεργασίες μεταξύ μαθητών και αγροτικών κοινοτήτων. Τα σχέδια του έγιναν η αφορμή για δυο ατομικές εκθέσεις.
