In 1999, Angelos Menelaou initiated and led the creation of the Department of Maritime Transport and Commerce at Frederick University, delivering the first accredited maritime academic degree program in the country. A passionate promoter of education, Angelos has played a prominent role in the development of focused shipping industry studies in Cyprus. He holds a Diploma in Business Administration, a BSc in Accounting, a MSc in Transportation Management from the Maritime College of the State University of New York (SUNY) and a Doctorate Degree completed at Middlesex University in 2011, with research focusing on IT tools and workflow processes aiming to improve productivity and quality of work in ship management organizations. This resulted in the authoring of a book entitled: “Enhancement of Productivity through an Integrated Crew Management System”. Angelos is an accomplished business manager in the maritime industry, with more than 28 years of experience gained across a wide range of managerial roles including shipping economics, human resources and project management. He is currently the Group Business Controller of Marlow Navigation, one of the world’s largest crew management companies, which employs approximately 14,000 seafarers on-board internationally trading merchant ships. Other accomplishments and leadership roles include; Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (FICS), Editor of the International Journal of Energy Sector Management (IJESM), Chairman of Cy-FOS Education Committee, Member of the Board of Directors of the Limassol Blue Economy Innovation Centre and Leader of the Limassol Sea and Coast thematic for the EU Mission on “100 climate neutral and smart cities by 2030”
