Dr. Symeon Nikolaou

Symeon Nikolaou (PhD)  received the BEng in 2003 from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the MSECE (2005) and Ph.D. (2007) degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech), in Atlanta, GA, USA, all in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is a member of the teaching and research staff of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics teaching in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, since 2007 and he is currently a Professor. Dr. Nikolaou is leading the Antennas and Microwaves research Group (AMG) and his research interests span: reconfigurable antennas, RFIDs, green sensors, energy harvesting, reconfigurable filters, and additive manufacturing for electromagnetic applications. He is a member of IEEE, a member of the Technical Chamber of Cyprus and has been a Cyprus delegate in the management committee of several COST Actions related to Antennas and Sensors. Simos has authored or co-authored more than 120 papers in journals and peer reviewed conferences. Currently he serves as Associate Editor for IET Microwaves Antennas and Propagation (IET MAP) and for the International Journal of Antennas and Propagation (IJAP). He has also served as TPC member for EuCAP, IEEE APS and MOCAST international conferences. His research has raised more than 2M funding from funding agencies including RIF, ESA, Ministry of Defense, H2020, and Horizon Europe.

Ο Συμεών Νικολάου (PhD) έλαβε πτυχίο το 2003 από το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο (ΕΜΠ) και το MSECE (2005) και Ph.D. (2007) διπλώματα από το Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech), στην Ατλάντα, GA, ΗΠΑ, όλα στην Ηλεκτρολογική Μηχανική και Μηχανική Υπολογιστών. Από το 2007 είναι μέλος του διδακτικού και ερευνητικού προσωπικού του Τμήματος Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών, Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών και Πληροφορικής, και διδάσκει στα προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα του τμήματος. Από το 2022 έχει ανελιχθεί στη βαθμίδα του Καθηγητή. Ο Δρ Νικολάου ηγείται της ερευνητικής ομάδας Κεραιών και Μικροκυμάτων (AMG) και τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα έχουν να κάνουν με: αναδιαμορφώσιμες κεραίες, RFID, πράσινους αισθητήρες, συλλογή ενέργειας RF, αναδιαμορφώσιμα φίλτρα και κατασκευή τεχνητών υλικών για ηλεκτρομαγνητικές εφαρμογές. Είναι μέλος του IEEE, μέλος του Τεχνικού Επιμελητηρίου Κύπρου και έχει διατελέσει εκπρόσωπος της Κύπρου στη διαχειριστική επιτροπή αρκετών Δράσεων COST που σχετίζονται με Κεραίες και Αισθητήρες. Ο Δρ Νικολάου έχει συμβάλει στη συγγραφή πέραν των 120 επιστημονικών εργασιών σε περιοδικά και συνέδρια με κριτές. Αυτή τη στιγμή εκτελεί χρέη Associate Editor για τα περιοδικά IET Microwaves Antennas and Propagation (IET MAP) και International Journal of Antennas and Propagation (IJAP). Έχει επίσης υπηρετήσει ως μέλος TPC για διεθνή συνέδρια όπως το EuCAP, IEEE APS και MOCAST. Η έρευνά του έχει συγκεντρώσει περισσότερα από 2 εκατομμύρια χρηματοδότηση από οργανισμούς χρηματοδότησης, όπως RIF, ESA, Υπουργείο Άμυνας, H2020 και Horizon Europe.
