Dr. Efrosini Charalambous

Short CV

Dr. Efrosini Charalambous holds a diploma in architecture engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, a master's in advanced architecture from the Institute of Advanced Architectural of Catalonia and she was awarded a PhD in Architectural Space, Spatial Cognition and Behavioural Neuroscience, from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (UCL). Her research interests are primarily focused on the study of human spatial and architectural experience, embodied-enactive cognition, and wayfinding behaviour using cutting-edge technology such as mobile EEG (electroencephalography) and VR technology. Within this context, she is particularly interested in both quantitative and qualitative approaches to human experience within the built environment (including urban emotions and well-being urban policies) as well as dynamic system theories and complexity, urban theory, human geography and smart city technology. She has worked as a teaching and research fellow at several departments of the Faculty of the Built Environment at UCL including the Bartlett School of Architecture, the Centre of Advanced Spatial Analysis and the Institute for Global Prosperity. She is a registered architect at ETEK(CY) and she has practised architecture in Athens and Barcelona. She has received recognition as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy for her teaching practice as well as the UCL Education Award in 2018.

Η Δρ. Ευφροσύνη Χαραλάμπους είναι κάτοχος διπλώματος αρχιτέκτονα μηχανικού από το Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο, μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου στην προηγμένη αρχιτεκτονική από το Institute of Advanced Architectural of Catalonia και διδακτορικού διπλώματος στον Αρχιτεκτονικό Χώρο, τη Χωρική Γνώση και τη Συμπεριφορική Νευροεπιστήμη, από το Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (UCL). Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται κυρίως στη μελέτη της ανθρώπινης χωρικής και αρχιτεκτονικής εμπειρίας, της ενσώματης-ενεργητικής γνώσης και της συμπεριφοράς εύρεσης δρόμων χρησιμοποιώντας τεχνολογία αιχμής όπως το κινητό EEG (ηλεκτροεγκεφαλογραφία) και η τεχνολογία VR. Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, ενδιαφέρεται ιδιαίτερα τόσο για ποσοτικές όσο και για ποιοτικές προσεγγίσεις της ανθρώπινης εμπειρίας στο δομημένο περιβάλλον (συμπεριλαμβανομένων των αστικών συναισθημάτων και των αστικών πολιτικών ευημερίας) καθώς και για τις θεωρίες και την πολυπλοκότητα των δυναμικών συστημάτων, την αστική θεωρία, την ανθρωπογεωγραφία και την τεχνολογία έξυπνων πόλεων. Έχει εργαστεί ως διδάσκουσα και ερευνήτρια σε διάφορα τμήματα της Σχολής Δομημένου Περιβάλλοντος στο UCL, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της Σχολής Αρχιτεκτονικής Bartlett, του Κέντρου Προηγμένης Χωρικής Ανάλυσης και του Ινστιτούτου για την Παγκόσμια Ευημερία. Είναι εγγεγραμμένη αρχιτέκτονας στο ΕΤΕΚ (CY) και έχει ασκήσει το επάγγελμα της αρχιτεκτονικής στην Αθήνα και τη Βαρκελώνη. Έχει λάβει αναγνώριση ως Associate Fellow της Ακαδημίας Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης για τη διδακτική της πρακτική καθώς και το UCL Education Award το 2018.
