Η Δρ Τζούλια Αττά - Πολίτου απέκτησε πτυχίο Φαρμακευτικής (1975) και διδακτορικό δίπλωμα Φαρμακευτικής (1979) από το Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (ΕΚΠΑ). Συνέχισε τις σπουδές της με μεταδιδακτορική εκπαίδευση στην Ολλανδία (Εργαστήριο Τοξικολογίας του Πανεπιστημιακού Νοσοκομείου του Leiden και Εργαστήριο Φαρμακολογίας της Φαρμακευτικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου του Leiden (1983-1984). Εργάσθηκε στο ΕΚΠΑ ως μέλος του Διδακτικού Ερευνητικού Προσωπικού (ΔΕΠ) σε διάφορες πανεπιστημιακές βαθμίδες (Επιμελήτρια 1979 - 1982, Λέκτορας 1982 - 1990, Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια 1990 - 2006, Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια 2006 - 2014) και αφυπηρέτησε τον Απρίλιο του 2014 στη βαθμίδα της Αναπληρώτριας Καθηγήτριας με γνωστικό αντικείμενο «Αναλυτική Χημεία - Φαρμακευτική και Τοξικολογική Ανάλυση». Εργάσθηκε στο Εργαστήριο Ιατροδικαστικής και Τοξικολογίας της Ιατρικής Σχολής (1979 - 1999) και στο Εργαστήριο Αναλυτικής Χημείας του Τμήματος Χημείας (1999 - 2014) του ΕΚΠΑ, διδάσκοντας προπτυχιακά μαθήματα {Αναλυτική Χημεία Ι (Yγροχημική Aνάλυση), Αναλυτική Χημεία ΙΙ (Eνόργανη Ανάλυση) και Τοξικολογία - Οικοτοξικολογία} καθώς και μεταπτυχιακά μαθήματα (Κλινική Χημεία, Κλινική Φαρμακευτική Ανάλυση, Βιοαναλυτικές Τεχνικές). Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick της Κύπρου εξελέγη Καθηγήτρια το 2019 στο γνωστικό αντικείμενο «Αναλυτική Χημεία - Φαρμακευτική και Τοξικολογική Ανάλυση» και διδάσκει, ως Επισκέπτρια Καθηγήτρια, το προπτυχιακό μάθημα «Τοξικολογία» στο Τμήμα Φαρμακευτικής (2019 μέχρι σήμερα) και το μεταπτυχιακό μάθημα «Προσδιορισμοί φαρμάκων και μεταβολιτών τους σε βιολογικά υγρά - Στοιχεία Κλινικής Χημείας» (2015 - 2018 και 2020) στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα «Κλινική Φαρμακευτική» του Τμήματος Φαρμακευτικής. Η ερευνητική της δραστηριότητα έχει επικεντρωθεί στη Φαρμακευτική και Τοξικολογική Ανάλυση και συγκεκριμένα στην ανάπτυξη μεθόδων προσδιορισμού φαρμάκων και ξενοβιοτικών σε βιολογικά υγρά καθώς και σε «in vitro» μελέτες προσρόφησης φαρμάκων σε ενεργό άνθρακα με εφαρμογές στη θεραπευτική αντιμετώπιση οξειών δηλητηριάσεων. Έχει δημοσιεύσει ερευνητικές εργασίες σε διεθνή και ελληνικά επιστημονικά περιοδικά και έχει συμμετάσχει με ανακοινώσεις σε διεθνή και ελληνικά συνέδρια με δημοσίευση των εργασιών στα πρακτικά των συνεδρίων. Έχει συγγράψει κεφάλαια σε ελληνικές και ξενόγλωσσες μονογραφίες και έχει συμμετάσχει με διαλέξεις σε διάφορες επιστημονικές εκδηλώσεις. Είναι κριτής άρθρων σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά (Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, Journal of AOAC International, Pharmacological Research κ.λπ.) και μέλος της Συντακτικής Επιτροπής του ηλεκτρονικού επιστημονικού περιοδικού “Αρχεία της Φαρμακευτικής’’ της Ελληνικής Φαρμακευτικής Εταιρείας (2014 - 2018). Στην Ελλάδα συμμετείχε σε επιστημονικές επιτροπές του Εθνικού Οργανισμού Φαρμάκων (ΕΟΦ), του Υπουργείου Υγείας και της Πανελλήνιας Ένωσης Φαρμακοποιών. Υπήρξε Γραμματέας της Οργανωτικής Επιτροπής του 1ου Πανελλήνιου Φαρμακευτικού Συνεδρίου, εμπειρογνώμονας του Εθνικού Συστήματος Διαπίστευσης (Ε.ΣΥ.Δ) για Εργαστήρια Τοξικολογίας (2003 - 2012) και συνεργάτης της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης στην Επιτροπή της Πολυγλωσσικής Βάσης Όρων ΙΑΤΕ (Ιnter Acitve Terminology for Europe) για την απόδοση από τα αγγλικά στα ελληνικά επιστημονικών όρων Οικοτοξικολογίας (2010 - 2011) και Φαρμακολογίας (2012). Υπήρξε ιδρυτικό μέλος της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Τοξικολογίας και της Εταιρείας Ιατροδικαστικών Επιστημών καθώς και μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου και Αντιπρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Φαρμακευτικής Εταιρείας (EΦΕ) (2012 - 2015). Το 2011 έλαβε τον τίτλο του «Εuropean Registered Toxicologist (ERT)» από την EUROTOX (Federation of European Τoxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology), κατατασσόμενη μεταξύ των 9 πρώτων Ελλήνων τοξικολόγων που έλαβαν τον τίτλο αυτό, μετά από κρίση του επιστημονικού της έργου από Ευρωπαίους Τοξικολόγους.

Dr. Julia Atta - Politou obtained the BSc degree in Pharmacy (1975) and the Ph.D degree in Pharmacy (1979) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She continued with post-doctoral studies in the Netherlands as a Research Associate at the Academic Hospital of Leiden, Lab. of Toxicology and at the University of Leiden, Department of Pharmacy, Lab. of Pharmacology (1983 - 1984). She has followed an academic career at the NKUA (Senior Assistant 1979 - 1982, Lecturer 1982 - 1990, Assistant Professor 1990 - 2006, Αssociate Professor 2006 - 2014) and she completed her career at NKUA on 2014 as Associate Professor on “Analytical Chemistry - Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Analysis”. She has worked at the Lab. of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, School of Medicine ((1979 - 1999) and at the Lab. of Analytical Chemistry, Dep. of Chemistry (1999 - 2014) of NKUA, teaching at undergraduate courses {Analytical Chemistry I (Hydrochemical Analysis), Analytical Chemistry II (Instrumental Analysis) and Toxicology - Ecotoxicology} and at postgraduate courses (Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Pharmaceutical Analysis, Bioanalytical Techniques). At Frederick University, Cyprus, she was elected on 2019 as Professor on “Analytical Chemistry - Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Analysis” and she is teaching, as a Visiting Professor, the undergraduate lesson “Toxicology” to the students of Pharmacy Department (2019 till now) and the postgraduate lesson “Determination of drugs and their metabolites in biological fluids - Topics of Clinical Chemistry” (2015 - 2018 and 2020) at the postgraduate program “Clinical Pharmacy” of Pharmacy Department. Her research activity is focused on Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Analysis and namely on the development of analytical methods for the determination of drugs and xenobiotics in biological fluids and on «in vitro» studies concerning the adsorption of drugs onto activated charcoal with applications to the therapeutic treatment in cases of acute poisoning. She has published original research papers, in refereed scientific international journals and scientific articles in greek scientific journals. She has participated at international and greek congresses with publications of the corresponding works at the proceedings. She has written chapters to greek and foreign monographs and she has participated with lectures to several scientific events and round table discussions. She is α referee in international scientific journals (Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, Journal of AOAC International, Pharmacological Research etc.) and member of the Εditorial board and Co-editor of the electronic scientific journal «Αrcheia Pharmakeftikis», which is the Scientific Journal of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Society (2014 - 2018). In Greece, she has participated to several Scientific Committees of the National Organization for Medicines, the Ministry of Health and the Panhellenic Association of Pharmacists. She was also General Secretary of the organizing Committee of the 1st Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Congress), expert of the Hellenic Accreditation System (E.SY.D) for Toxicology Laboratories (2003 - 2012) and Collaborator of the European Community to the Scientific Committee ΙΑΤΕ (Ιnter Active Terminology for Europe) for the translation of English scientific terms into Greek for the guidelines of the European Community, concerning the subjects of Ecotoxicology (2010 - 2011) and Pharmacology (2012). She was also α founding member of the Ηellenic Society of Toxicology and of the Hellenic Society of Forensic Sciences as well as member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Hellenic Pharmaceutical Society (2012 - 2015). On 2011 she gained the title of the “European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) from EUROTOX (Federation of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology), being among the first 9 Greek Toxicologists who were nominated with this title, after evaluation of her scientific research and experience from European Toxicologists.
