StepWISE project to empower local authorities for effective energy transition through CETPs
Frederick University and the Cyprus Energy Agency hosted the 2nd meeting of the European StepWISE project on November 5th and 6th, at the university's Nicosia campus.
The StepWISE project, funded by the LIFE Clean Energy Transition (CET) program, aims to support local and regional authorities in adopting digital, integrated, and ambitious Clean Energy Transition Plans (CETPs).
The project, with a total budget of €1,498,834, seeks to empower local authorities to develop tailored strategies to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
The two-day meeting involved project partners IES Ltd. (Ireland), R2M Solution (Italy), Sinloc (Italy), and the Plovdiv Energy Agency (Bulgaria), who participated in educational workshops and presentations. During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on stakeholder engagement techniques through specialized training workshops.
An additional visit to the Kapedes community took place, where the project was presented to the local council. Concurrently, training was provided on soft skills related to climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, as well as financing.
StepWISE is an initiative leveraging digital tools to enhance the energy transition of local authorities. Through the tools developed within the framework of the program, the goal is to disseminate knowledge to local authorities, strengthening their capacity to develop and implement Clean Energy Transition Plans tailored to the needs and challenges of each region.
