Frederick University is a vibrant private university operating in the Republic of Cyprus, a European Union country that attracts thousands of international students every year. The University boasts a 60-year legacy, consistently leading the way in higher education in Cyprus. It is also the first University in Cyprus with a license to operate in two cities, Nicosia and Limassol.

Achievements in global rankings

Frederick University ranked No. 1 in Cyprus in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings for the fourth consecutive year and among the World's Top 100–200 Universities for Quality Education, in the recently announced 2026 edition of the ratings.

Further, it is one of only three universities in Cyprus and Greece to be placed in the highest overall ranking band, 301–400 globally, and the only non-public university to achieve this distinction.

In the same rankings, Frederick University is placed among the top 100–200 universities globally in the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4- Quality Education, SDG 7- Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 10- Reduced Inequalities, SDG 17- Partnerships for the Goals.

This recognition highlights the University's strong global impact through its research, teaching, institutional policies, and engagement with society, reflecting its ongoing commitment to addressing global challenges.

The Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings are the only global ranking system that evaluates universities based on their contribution to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs represent a global call to action to end poverty and inequality, protect the environment, and ensure prosperity and well-being for all.

Another important achievement is its participation in EU-CONEXUS, an alliance of European universities focused on smart urban coastal sustainability. EU-CONEXUS has been selected by the European Commission as one of 41 European University Alliances in the framework of the European Universities’ initiative. As a unique transnational European higher education and research institution, EU-CONEXUS will allow students to obtain a degree combining studies across different EU countries.
