FREDERICK RESEARCH CENTER
Promoting and conducting high-caliber research
Frederick Research Center (FRC) is a leading research non-profit organization in Cyprus. It was established in 1997 to create a solid foundation for the development of scientific research activities of Cypriot and international scientists.
Its main goals are:
- to promote scientific research and technology transfer and to undertake and conduct research of basic and applied nature in various domains
- to encourage participation and development of Research, Development & Innovation proposals and the sound implementation of externally funded RDI projects
- to establish collaborations with other national and international Research Centers and Universities as well as SMEs for the execution of research work and tech transfer
FRC engages highly qualified academic/research staff with long experience in implementing independent and high-caliber research and with rich publications record in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Numerous Research, Development and Innovation projects (RDI) have been carried out through FRC and part of their results has been presented in international scientific conferences, contributing to their dissemination and technology transfer. To facilitate this, FRC has modern facilities and access to Frederick University’s infrastructure, equipment and software tools through a special collaboration agreement.
Furthermore, among the main aims of the Center is to support (financially or otherwise) students and researchers. To this end, the Center has close collaborations with Frederick University and Frederick Institute of Technology and often involves faculty members and students in proposals and project work.
Research Work
FRC encourages the “bottom-up” approach for development of ideas and therefore the projects implemented under FRC cover a broad range of research interests. Since the beginning of its operation, FRC has been involved in more than 140 externally funded (European: FP6, FP7, HORIZON 2020, Regional: INTERREG, National: RPF DESMI, RESTART2016-20) RDI projects, in the majority of which as a lead partner. A significant number of projects concern the domains of Applied Sciences and Technology, but the Center has also been and is keen to be involved in RDI activities relevant to the Environment, Education, Management & Economics and Social Sciences.
Gender Equality Plan
FRC is committed to promoting gender equality through its operation and its research activities, in alignment with the principles and objectives of the European Commission. The Gender Equality Plan adopted by the board of directors of FRC outlines the overall policy, objectives and measures for achieving those objectives, in collaboration and with the support of Frederick University.Contact
