Level Of Qualification Bachelor (1st Cycle Degree)
Offered by Department of Law
Mode of Study Full Time or Part Time

FREDERICK University, having solidified a long and well-recognised presence in the field of Cyprus Higher Education, leverages its accumulated experience and the need for dynamic evolution by proceeding in the establishment of a Department of Law.

Its primary goal is to provide students with a thorough and high-quality education in the field of law by harmoniously integrating them in the apprenticeship of the science of law: A systematised body of knowledge that interprets the law in force in a given society as regulatory rules of the social life of people.

The teaching of courses is carried out using various educational institutions and teaching methods, introducing students to the relevant branches of law while encouraging them, at the same time, to refer to specific scientific literature and jurisprudence.
The program offers courses that give emphasis on both the fundamental and specific aspects of the science of law.

The suggestions that follow hereinafter, as well as the detailed program structure are based on our belief that the objectives of a Department of Law are not strictly limited to forming lawyers capable of performing before the court, but also comprehend, on one hand, the integration of graduates in other productive sectors of economy, such as companies, banks, the Civil Service etc, and, on the other, the general role played by the Science of Law in forming a mature society.

Specific Objectives
The Specific Objectives of this program of study include:
- To equip students with a sound understanding and the necessary knowledge in the various fields of law; national law, European law, international law, substantive and procedural law as well as public and private law.
- To familiarise them with the legal thinking, enabling them to interpret and correctly apply the law.
- To develop their legal education in order to introduce them to the adaptability of the law, the research and continuous search of law, enabling them to become successful in any profession requiring a degree in law, and to effectively contribute in the development of the social, political and cultural values of the country.
- To establish the Department of Law as a centre focusing on the strengthening and the promotion of the science of law in our country, on research and reflection, on the promotion of the Cyprus law on the basis of its historical origins and constant modernisation, as well as on the provision of a high-quality legal education.

The language of instruction is Greek and English.

With the completion of this program of study, students are expected to be able:
1. To develop a proper and methodical approach to the various aspects of the law on the basis of the triptych detection-analysis-application of the law.
2. To express and develop legal arguments in a sound atmosphere of academic debate, referring to law/legislation and academic views.
3. To distinguish the basic differences among the various branches of law and to develop a research-critical spirit as to the procedure of law in the society in general.
4. To familiarise them with the search of necessary sources of information and to become effective studiers of the evolutionary course of the law.
5. To familiarise them with solving practical problems in order to become, from an early stage, privy of the high standards of the legal profession and consultancy in general.
6. To develop all the skills necessary to efficiently work both at a personal and collective level.
This program of study is based on our belief that the objectives of a Department of Law are not strictly limited to forming lawyers capable of performing before the court, but also comprehend, on one hand, the integration of graduates in other productive sectors of economy, such as companies, banks, the Civil Service etc, and, on the other, the general role played by the Science of Law in forming a mature society.
