"A person with special needs is a potential participant whose individual physical, mental or health-related situation is such that his/her participation in the project / mobility Action would not be possible without extra financial support."

Students or Staff with permanent or long-term disabilities, including disabilities caused by physical or psychological illness can receive an extra top-up added to the original grant amount.

• with physical, mental and psychological disabilities
• with physical and mental health issues
• with a low socio-economic background
• with an immigrant/refugee background
• political refugee students/graduates
• who are children of single-parent or large-child families from a low socio-economic background
• who are parents themselves and belong to the category of people with a low socio-economic background
• coming from rural, deprived, remote and critical areas
• who come from dysfunctional families (e.g. with drug addict parents, monitored by the Welfare Office, etc.)
• students/graduates with Learning Difficulties (e.g. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia, etc.)

Semester long mobility (60-360 days): A top-up of 250 EUR/month

Short term mobility and short blended mobility including BIP (5-30 days): A top-up of 100 EUR for mobilities with a duration of 5-14 days and 150 EUR for mobilities with a duration of 15-30 days

If there are extra expenses during the exchange, due to disability, not covered by the top-up, students can apply for up to 100 percent coverage of actual costs. Expenses may include additional costs that the student or staff or the host university may have that are not covered in another way. This can for example be transportation, teaching aids, special accommodation, assistants, or medical assistance in the country of the student's or staff host university.

Selected students and/or staff with fewer opportunities at Frederick University may visit the Mobility Office and submit backing documents as proof of their requirements and the expected expenses.

Once all documents are collected, the Mobility Office will submit a request to the Foundation for the Management of European Lifelong Learning Programmes (National Agency), which will then decide whether supplementary funding may be awarded.

Each higher education institution, by signing the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, commits to ensuring equal access and opportunities to participants from all backgrounds. Therefore, students and staff with special needs can benefit from the support services that the receiving institution offers to its local students and staff.”
