Dr Dimitrios Gkotzos (PhD, UNESCO Chair ICTs in ESD, Dep. Of Primary Education, University of Crete, Greece) is an Environmental Education Officer at the North Athens (Athens B) Directorate of Primary Education (Marousi, Greece). He is also an Adjunct Lecturer in Teaching Methodology and ΙCTs at the University of Crete, Greece (Department of Primary Education). His doctoral research dealt with the investigation of the phenomenon of climate change and its impact on children's rights and included the design, development and implementation of a web-based learning environment for primary school learners. He also holds an M.A. in Education (Lancaster University, U.K.) and an M.Ed. in ICTs in Education (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece). He has experience from participation as a researcher in several EU-funded projects: CLIMASP (Development of an Interdisciplinary Programme in Climate Change and Sustainability Policy), CCSAFS (Development of an MSc programme in Climate Change, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security), S.A.M.E. World (Sustainability. Awareness. Mobilization. Environment in the Global Education). He is the President of the Hellenic Coordinating Committee of LEAF (Learning about Forests) environmental education program.
