Dr Nicolaides has a PhD in Maritime Economics, MSc in Shipping Business and International Trade and a Bachelor Degree in Shipping Business. He has also served as Captain Class C onboard Tanker vessels for 3 years. He is an active consultant on Project Finance and EU funded projects in the field of private and public investments in several sectors, like transport, international trade, financial aspects in sea transport and ports, etc.
He runs a consulting firm in Greece, Montenegro and Cyprus and he has been involved in various shipping related projects within the last twenty years. He is also running a web based platform for Professional Training in specialized shipping issues.
Concerning his academic profile, he was had been serving as lecturer at the Department of Maritime Studies of the University of Piraeus and the Panteion University (MSc in Public Economics). His research interest mainly lies on the field of maritime economics and Professional Training in Shipping and seaborne trade. He is author of two books ("Basic Principles of Maritime Science" and "Maritime Geography") and author of several scientific publications. He joined the Department of Maritime Transport and Commerce of Frederick University since 2006.
