Dr Demetra Kyriakidou-Marnelou Short CV Η Δρ Δήμητρα Κυριακίδου-Μαρνέλου είναι κάτοχος Πτυχίου Φαρμακευτικής, BSc, του Τμήματος Φαρμακευτικής της Σχολής Επιστημών Υγείας του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών (Ελλάδα, 1999), Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος Ειδίκευσης, MSc, του Τμήματος Φαρμακευτικής Χημείας της Φαρμακευτικής Σχολής του Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (Ελλάδα, 2006), Διδακτορικού Διπλώματος, PhD, της Ιατρικής Σχολής του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (Ελλάδα, 2021) και Μεταπτυχιακού Διπλώματος Ειδίκευσης στη Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων, MBA, της Σχολής Οικονομικών και Διοίκησης του Ανοικτού Πανεπιστήμιου Κύπρου (Κύπρος, 2022). Στα πλαίσια του MSc, η Δρ. Κυριακίδου-Μαρνέλου ερευνητικά ασχολήθηκε με τον έλεγχο ποιότητας φαρμακευτικών ενώσεων και ιδιαίτερα την ανάπτυξη και αξιολόγηση μεθόδου ποσοτικού προσδιορισμού της νατριούχου ρισεδρονάτης σε δισκία με την τεχνική της υγροχρωματογραφίας ζεύγους ιόντων, από την οποία προέκυψε η επιστημονική δημοσίευση: 1. Development and validation of a reversed-phase ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of risedronate in pharmaceutical preparations. Analytica Chimica Acta Volume 584, Issue 1, 12 February 2007, Pages 153-159. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.aca.2006.11.012 Περαιτέρω, ασχολήθηκε με ελέγχους ταυτότητας, καθαρότητας, περιεκτικότητας και σταθερότητας φαρμακευτικών ενώσεων, ως πρώτων υλών, και εντός φαρμακευτικών σκευασμάτων, όπως και με την ανάπτυξη μεθόδων με τη χρήση σύγχρονων αναλυτικών τεχνικών (HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, NMR κλπ) για αναλύσεις ενώσεων φαρμακευτικού ενδιαφέροντος. Ως διδακτορική ερευνήτρια η Δρ Κυριακίδου-Μαρνέλου επικεντρώθηκε στη χημική ανάλυση, για την ταυτοποίηση και ποσοτικό προσδιορισμό 45 υπολειμματικών αντιμικροβιακών ουσιών σε νωπό χοιρινό μυϊκό ιστό, μέσω της μεθόδου “Multi Residue Method for screening of antibiotics residues in meat using LC-MS/MS”. Ακολούθως, διεξήγαγε αξιολόγηση της διατροφικής έκθεσης σε κατάλοιπα αντιμικροβιακών ουσιών σε συγκεκριμένες πληθυσμιακές μονάδες, μέσω υπολογισμού της Εκτιμώμενης Ημερήσιας Πρόσληψης (EDI) σε σχέση με την Αποδεκτή Ημερήσια Πρόσληψη (ADI). Από την έρευνα αυτή προέκυψαν οι ακόλουθες δημοσιεύσεις: 2. Dietary Exposure Assessment of Veterinary Antibiotics in Pork Meat on Children and Adolescents in Cyprus. Volume 90, July 2020, 103512; DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jfca.2020.103512 Περαιτέρω, ασχολήθηκε με καίρια θέματα δημόσιας υγείας και τα προβλήματα που προκύπτουν από την εκτενή χρήση αντιμικροβιακών φαρμάκων, όπως την πολυανθεκτικότητα με την μετάδοση ανθεκτικών κλώνων βακτηρίων και κινητών γενετικών γονιδιακών στοιχείων από τα ζώα στον άνθρωπο. Ιδιαίτερα μέσω της στατιστικής ανάλυσης έχει διερευνήσει τη χρήση αντιμικροβιακών ουσιών σε παραγωγικά ζώα, σε σχέση με την ασφάλεια των τροφίμων ζωικής προέλευσης, και κατ’ επέκταση το μέγεθος της τροφικής επιβάρυνσης της δημόσιας υγείας σε διάφορες ηλικιακές μονάδες (παιδιά και ενήλικες). Επιπλέον, οι ερευνητικές της δραστηριότητες περιλαμβάνουν την μελέτη κρίσιμων παραμέτρων για τη δημόσια υγεία, επιδημιολογικά χαρακτηριστικά λοιμογόνων παραγόντων, μηχανισμούς διατήρησης και μετάδοσης λοιμογόνων παραγόντων, περιβαλλοντική επιδημιολογία και δημόσια υγεία, μικροβιακή αντοχή και μεταφορά αυτής με γενετικά τροποποιημένα τρόφιμα, μελέτη αυξητικών παραγόντων, κατάλοιπα μικροβιακών ουσιών, Συστήματα Εκτίμησης Κινδύνου (Risk assessment) και Εκτίμησης Έκθεσης (Exposure Assessment), όπως και τα Επίπεδα Μη Παρατηρούμενων Επιδράσεων (No Observed Effect Levels, NOELs), την Αποδεκτή Ημερήσια Πρόσληψη (Acceptable Daily Intake, ADI) και τους Παράγοντες ασφάλειας/αβεβαιότητας (Safety/Uncertainty Factor). Τέλος, διεκπεραίωσε Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα Σπουδών στη Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων, MBA, όπου ασχολήθηκε με θέματα οργάνωσης, διοίκησης επιχειρήσεων και οργανισμών, τη φαρμακοοικονομία, τη διαχείριση κινδύνων στην υγεία και την αξιολόγηση υπηρεσιών. Η Δρ. Κυριακίδου-Μαρνέλου διαθέτει μακροχρόνια εμπειρία στη Δημόσια Υπηρεσία ως μέλος της Επιτροπής του Συμβουλίου Κτηνιατρικών Φαρμάκων του Υπουργείου Γεωργίας, Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης και Περιβάλλοντος, στην επιστημονική αξιολόγηση χημικό-φαρμακολογικών, τοξικολογικών, κλινικών δοκιμών και περιβαλλοντικών μελετών με σκοπό τη χορήγηση σχετικής άδειας κυκλοφορίας. Επιπλέον, εκπροσωπεί την Κύπρο στον Ευρωπαϊκό Οργανισμό Φαρμάκων (European Medicines Agency - ΕΜΑ) ως μέλος της Επιτροπής QWP (Quality Working Party) η οποία μελετά την ποιότητα, αποδοτικότητα και ασφάλεια φαρμάκων. Τέλος, έχει μελετήσει εις βάθος πληθώρα Οδηγιών και Κατευθυντήριων Γραμμών της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής για τα φάρμακα, προσαρμόζοντας πλήρως την εθνική νομοθεσία στις διατάξεις του ευρωπαϊκού κεκτημένου και έχει συμμετάσχει σε διάφορες επιτροπές και ελέγχους, όπως την επιτροπή χορήγησης άδειας χονδρεμπορίου και μερικής παρασκευής φαρμάκων ως GMP-Inspector, την επιτροπή προσφορών και θέματα φαρμακοεπαγρύπνησης. Τέλος, διδάσκει ως ακαδημαϊκή εξωτερική συνεργάτης, προπτυχιακούς φοιτητές της Φαρμακευτικής Σχολής, Σχολή Επιστημών Υγείας του Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick Λευκωσίας, στην Κύπρο. Dr Dimitra Kyriakidou-Marnelou holds a BSc in Pharmacy from the Department of Pharmacy of the School of Applied Sciences of the University of Patras (Greece, 1999), a MSc in the Production and Quality Control of Pharmaceutical Compounds, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, School of Pharmacy, Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece, 2006), a PhD from the Department of Environment and Public Health of the Medical School of the University of Athens (Greece, 2021) in collaboration with the School of Pharmacy of the University of Athens and a Master of Business Administration, M.B.A., from the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Open University of Cyprus (Cyprus, 2022). As part of her MSc, Dr. Kyriakidou-Marnelou researched the quality control of pharmaceutical compounds and in particular the development and evaluation of a method for the quantitative determination of risedronate sodium in tablets using the technique of ion pair liquid chromatography, from which the following scientific publication resulted: 1. Development and validation of a reversed-phase ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of risedronate in pharmaceutical preparations. Analytica Chimica Acta Volume 584, Issue 1, 12 February 2007, Pages 153-159. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.aca.2006.11.012 Furthermore, her research interests were focused on identity and purity controls, stability studies of pharmaceutical compounds, as well as with the development of methods using modern analytical techniques (HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, NMR etc.) for analysis of compounds of pharmaceutical interest. As a Doctoral researcher, Dr. Kyriakidou-Marnelou focused on chemical analysis, for the identification and quantification of 45 residual antimicrobial substances in raw pork muscle tissue, through the "Multi Residue Method for screening of antibiotics residues in meat using LC-MS/MS" method. Furthermore, she conducted an assessment of dietary exposure to antimicrobial residues in specific population units by calculating the Estimated Daily Intake (EDI) relative to the Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI). Volume 90, July 2020, 103512; DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jfca.2020.103512 Additionally, she studied key public health issues and the problems arising from the extensive use of antimicrobial drugs, such as multi-resistance with the transmission of resistant bacterial clones and mobile genetic elements from animals to humans. Particularly through statistical analysis, she has investigated the use of antimicrobial substances in productive animals, in relation to the safety of food of animal origin, and by extension, the size of the food burden on public health in various age groups (children and adults). Finally, her research activities include the study of critical parameters for public health, epidemiological characteristics of infectious agents, mechanisms of maintenance and transmission of infectious agents, environmental epidemiology and public health, microbial resistance and its transfer by genetically modified foods, study of growth factors, microbial residues substances and Risk Assessment Systems, Exposure Assessment, as well as No Observed Effect Levels (NOELs), Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) and Safety/Uncertainty Factors. Subsequently, she completed an MBA where she studied matters of organization, business and management, pharmacoeconomics, health risk management and service evaluation. Dr. Kyriakidou-Marnelou has long-term experience in the Public Service as a member of the Committee of the Council of Veterinary Medicinal Products of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, in the scientific evaluation of chemical-pharmacological, toxicological, clinical trials and environmental studies with the aim of granting a relevant marketing license. Furthermore, she represents Cyprus at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as a member of the QWP (Quality Working Party) Committee in respect to the quality, efficiency and safety of medicines. Finally, she has studied in depth a number of Directives and Guidelines of the European Commission on medicines, fully adapting the national legislation to the provisions of the European acquis and has participated in various committees and audits, such as the committee for the granting of a license for the wholesale and partial manufacture of medicines as a GMP- Inspector, the tender committee and pharmacovigilance aspects. Finally, she teaches, as an Academic Associate undergraduate students in the Department of Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences of the Frederick University of Nicosia, in Cyprus.
