Dr. Nicolas Christofides

Short CV

Nicholas Christofides (PhD) holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) and a B.Sc. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. He is a member of the teaching and research staff of the department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics since 2006. His teaches in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the department as well as in the inter-departmental postgraduate MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems and in the Electrical and Electronics Systems Technician two-year diploma program of Frederick Institute of Technology. His research interests lie in the power systems domain in areas such as power quality, energy efficiency, electricity markets and distributed generation from Photovoltaic systems. Dr Christofides has participated as a research associate in various research projects funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation, the MIA-RTDI and the EU. He is a reviewer in international journals and has scientific publications in high impact international journals and more than 30 scientific papers in referred conference proceedings. He is a certified Energy Auditor, certified instructor for professional training and Qualified Expert for the energy performance certificates of buildings. He runs more than 5 vocational training programs every year for electrical contractors, electrical engineers and photovoltaic system installers. He is a member of ETEK and the international organizations IET and IEEE. He also participates in the technical committee of CYS/TC 23 for the translation of the British standard BS7671 and in the committee CNL/TC82 – Solar Photovoltaic Systems. Since 2006, he has been offering consulting services to the private sector in photovoltaic systems and has participated as a vocational trainer in various vocational programs sponsored by the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus.

Νικόλας Χριστοφίδης (PhD). Είναι μέλος του διδακτικού και ερευνητικού προσωπικού του τμήματος Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών, Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών και Πληροφορικής από το 2006. Είναι κάτοχος διδακτορικού και μεταπτυχιακού (MSc) στην ηλεκτρολογική μηχανική από το πανεπιστήμιο του Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) και πτυχίου στην ηλεκτρονική και ηλεκτρολογική μηχανική B.Sc. του πανεπιστημίου Birmingham. Διδάσκει στα προπτυχιακά και μεταπτυχιακά προγράμματα του τμήματος καθώς και στο δια-τμηματικό μεταπτυχιακό MSc στα Βιώσιμα Συστήματα Ενέργειας και στο διετές πρόγραμμα διπλώματος Τεχνικού Ηλεκτρικών και Ηλεκτρονικών Συστημάτων του Frederick Institute of Technology.Ο ερευνητικός του τομέας είναι στα Συστήματα Ισχύος σε αντικείμενα όπως την Ποιότητα Ισχύος, την Διασπαρμένη Παραγωγή από Φωτοβολταϊκά Συστήματα και την Ενεργειακή Απόδοση. Συμμετάσχει ως επιστημονικός συνεργάτης σε διάφορα ερευνητικά προγράμματα που χρηματοδοτούνται από το Ίδρυμα Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας, το MIA-RTDI και την Ε.Ε. Είναι κριτής και συγγραφές σε έγκριτα διεθνή περιοδικά και έχει περισσότερες από 30 επιστημονικές εργασίες σε πρακτικά συνεδρίων. Είναι πιστοποιημένος Ενεργειακός Ελεγκτής, πιστοποιημένος εκπαιδευτής επαγγελματικής κατάρτισης και Ειδικευμένος Εμπειρογνώμονας για πιστοποιητικά ενεργειακής απόδοσης κτιρίων. Εκτελεί περισσότερα από 5 προγράμματα επαγγελματικής κατάρτισης και πιστοποίησης κάθε χρόνο για ηλεκτρολόγους εργολάβους, ηλεκτρολόγους μηχανικούς και εγκαταστάτες φωτοβολταϊκών συστημάτων. Είναι μέλος του ΕΤΕΚ και των διεθνών οργανισμών ΙΕΤ και ΙΕΕΕ. Συμμετέχει επίσης στην τεχνική επιτροπή του CYS/TC 23 για μετάφραση και υιοθέτηση του βρετανικού προτύπου BS7671 και στην επιτροπή CNL/TC82 – Solar Photovoltaic Systems. Από το 2006 προσφέρει συμβουλευτικές υπηρεσίες στον ιδιωτικό τομέα στα φωτοβολταϊκά συστήματα και έχει συμμετάσχει ως εισηγητής σε διάφορα προγράμματα κατάρτισης επιχορηγημένα από την ΑνΑΔ.
