Dr Eliana Nikolaou (PhD) is an Associate Professor at the Department of Law. She studied
Law at the National and Capodistrian University of Athens. She holds a PhD degree in
Constitutional Law from Aristoteleion University of Thessaloniki. She was a member of the
Law Preparatory Committee for the modernization of Cyprus Family Law and she served as a
judge and afterwards, as the President of the Family Court during the first years of its function.
For two consecutive terms (1998-2010) she served as the Ombudsman of Cyprus Republic.
She is a member of the board of the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union
(F.R.A) Eliana Nicolaou worked as a scientific collaborator at the Law Department of the
University of Cyprus. She is a practising advocate having established in 2012 a Law Firm.
