Dr. Penelope Alexia Avagianou holds a Psychology Bachelor Degree (B.Sc) from University of the West of England, a Master Degree (M.Sc) in Health & Clinical Psychology from University of Bristol and a Ph D in Developmental Psychology from the University of Thessaly. She works as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist since 2000 firstly in private practice and since 2005 until present in Greece’s NHS. (Teaching Hospital of Larisa and General Hospital of Volos). Since 2012, she is placed in the Child Psychiatric Unit of the G.H.V. She holds a wide range of teaching experience (SELETE, ASPAITE, UNIVERSITY OF THESSALY) and since 2016 Dr. Avagianou is a collaborating academic staff at Frederick University, teaching at the Distance Learning Master’s degree in Special Education the modules ‘Children in Special Needs’ and ‘Teaching strategies in Special and General Education’ at the Education Department in the school of Education and Social Sciences. Her research interests combine clinical and developmental psychology fields. In particular she studies and has worked upon the Theory of Attachment, Internet Addiction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotional Disorders & Cognitive Schemas in Children & Adults.
