Η Μαρία Μόρρου διδάσκει ως εργαστηριακός επόπτης των μαθημάτων της Γενικής Βιολογίας και Υγιεινής και Επείγουσας Θεραπευτικής στο Τμήμα Φαρμακευτικής, καθώς και του μαθήματος Κυτταρικής Βιολογίας και Γενετικής στο Τμήμα Νοσηλευτικής. Είναι πτυχιούχος Βιολόγος, απόφοιτη του Τμήματος Βιολογίας, του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, από το 2020. Κατά τη διπλωματική της εργασία, ασχολήθηκε με τα ανθρώπινα γονίδια της οικογένειας των καλλικρεϊνών και τα αποτελέσματά της παρουσιάστηκαν σε διεθνή επιστημονικά συνέδρια. Συνέχισε τις μεταπτυχιακές της σπουδές στο τμήμα Μοριακής Γενετικής, Λειτουργίας και Θεραπείας του Ινστιτούτου Νευρολογίας και Γενετικής Κύπρου, αποκτώντας τον τίτλο Μάστερ στην Μοριακή Ιατρική. Η διπλωματικής της εργασία αφορούσε το πεδίο της παιδοενδοκρινολογίας, μελετώντας τα ανθρώπινα γονίδια που εμπλέκονται στη Πρόωρη Εφηβεία. Τα αποτελέσματα της μελέτης δημοσιεύτηκαν σε έγκριτο επιστημονικό περιοδικό Ενδοκρινολογίας (Frontiers in Endocrinology) και παρουσιάστηκαν σε διεθνές επιστημονικό συνέδριο. Το 2022, ξεκίνησε τις διδακτορικές της σπουδές στο τμήμα Μοριακής Γενετικής, Λειτουργίας και Θεραπείας του Ινστιτούτου Νευρολογίας και Γενετικής Κύπρου, στοχεύοντας στην ανίχνευση και μελέτη των εξωκυτταρικών κυστιδίων ως βιοδείκτες σε σύνδρομα μη φυσιολογικής εφηβείας.

Maria Morrou teaches as a laboratory assistant of the courses General Biology and Hygiene and Emergency Therapeutics, for the Department of Pharmacy, as well as the course Cell Biology and Genetics, for the Department of Nursing. She has graduated from the Department of Biology, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in 2020. During her bachelor thesis, she studied the human genes of the kallikreins family and her research was presented in international scientific conferences. She continued her studies in the Department of Molecular Genetics, Function and Therapy, at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, graduating with the Master degree of Molecular Medicine. Her Master’s thesis was focused on the pediatric endocrinology, studying the human genes associated with Precocious Puberty. The results of the study have been published in the journal of Frontiers in Endocrinology titled ‘Methylation status of hypothalamic Mkrn3 promoter across puberty’ and presented to an international scientific conference. In 2022, she started her PhD studies at the Department of Molecular Genetics, Function and Therapy of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, aiming at the detection and study of extracellular vesicles as biomarkers of abnormal puberty syndromes.
