DOWNLOAD BROCHUREThe new BSc in Physiotherapy, a program offered by Frederick University at the Limassol campus, aims to develop and transmit contemporary knowledge of Physiotherapy science, through the high level of teaching and applied research training it provides.
It is supported by full time specialized academic staff with a high research record and international impact and recognition which guarantees the competence and full compliance of the Program with up-to-date international scientific advances. In addition, the Program offers high-level theoretical and practical knowledge of contemporary Physiotherapy which, in combination with laboratory, clinical and practical training, provides the necessary skills for a successful professional career and development. For this purpose, our Physiotherapy program of study is equipped with a wide range of modern and spacious laboratories, which include state-of-the-art physiotherapy infrastructure, in order to offer our students high level clinical and research training.
We collaborate with various clinical settings for the provision of clinical and practical training of students, in order to develop all those skills and competences required for a successful professional development in the field of Physiotherapy. This offers our students the opportunity to practice on a wide range of clinical cases during their clinical placements in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, convalescents as well as in selected private physiotherapy clinics, supported by adequately trained and experienced clinical physiotherapists. Finally, upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to register to the Pan-Cyprian Association of Physiotherapists, and the Cyprus Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Establishments Registration Council, in order to obtain a license to practice in Cyprus.
It is expected that upon completion of their studies, graduates will be able to:
- Develop advanced clinical reasoning in the context of the evaluation of patients with pathologies in the various systems of the body
- Understand the indications and contraindications of physiotherapy interventions
- Apply safe and effective physiotherapy interventions in order to improve the patient’s disability and function
- Improve the quality of life, physical and mental health, well-being, independent living and the ability of individuals and groups with impaired mobility due to disability in their work activities
- Engage with their colleagues and other health professionals in a creative way and share their knowledge and experience with them, developing interpersonal relationships and promoting interdisciplinarity
- Respect ethical codes and demonstrate protection of patients' personal data
- Critically analyze and evaluate the literature
- Conduct studies that will be the product of searching for research gaps and conflicting opinions on the relevant literature
The graduates of the Program will have the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the field of Physiotherapy.
They will be able to work in a wide range of health care sectors, such as hospitals and clinics, nursing homes, private physiotherapists, sports clubs and centres.
Graduates will have the opportunity to register with the Pancyprian Association of Physiotherapists, as well as with the Physiotherapists Archive (Ministry of Health) to obtain a professional license.
There are no specific admission requirements for this Program. Candidates can be admitted to the Program only if they satisfy the general admission requirements of the University.
Recognition of Prior Learning
There are no specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning for this Program. Candidates can be granted transfer credits according to the general arrangements for recognition of prior learning of the University.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
There are no specific examination regulations, assessment and grading methods employed by this Program. The examination regulations, assessment methods and grading system for this Program are the same as the relevant general university regulations.
Graduation Requirements
Students are eligible for graduation after successfully completing 240 ECTS credits in the courses listed in the Program Structure.
Furthermore, a student can graduate only if their CGPA is greater or equal to 5.00 out of 10.00. Graduating students with a CGPA less than 5.00 might have to take extra courses or repeat a number of courses in order to improve their grades.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates of the Program have access to graduate studies (2nd and 3rd Cycle) in disciplines related with the discipline of nursing.
