European Credit Transfer & Accumulation System
Making studies and courses more transparent
The Programs of Study at Frederick University are based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)
ECTS is a tool of the European Higher Education Area for making studies and courses more transparent. It helps students to move between countries and to have their academic qualifications and study periods abroad recognised.
At least 240 ECTS must be completed for the awarding of the BSc, BEd and BA degrees, 90 ECTS for the awarding of the MSc/MA degrees and 180 ECTS for the awarding of the PhD degree (for Master’s degree holders).
Each student can enrol for 60 ECTS per academic year. A part-time student is one who enrols for up to 19 ECTS in a semester. International students must study on a full-time basis (at least 20 ECTS per semester) as per the regulations of the Cyprus government.
