Prof. Eleni Hadjiconstantinou

Eleni Hadjiconstantinou is Professor of Management Science and joined Frederick University Cyprus, in 2013, following twenty-two years of academic career at the Business School, Imperial College London. At Frederick, Prof. Hadjiconstantinou is the Dean of the School of Business and Law. Prof. Hadjiconstantinou holds a doctorate in Operational Research from Imperial College London and a First-Class BSc (Honours) in Statistics and Computer Science from City University, London. She is best known for her work in routing and distribution, transportation and logistics, production, resource planning, project scheduling, optimization of port terminal operations, network design and optimization, cutting and packing problems. Her research expertise lies in formulating mathematical models of real-world problems in industry and developing computationally effective algorithms (both exact and heuristic) with the view to providing efficient, practical, computer-based solutions in various application areas. The results of this research contribute to the advancement of tactical and strategic decision-making in organizations through the use of analysis, models and optimization methodologies. Prof. Hadjiconstantinou published widely in high quality academic journals, such as, Operations Research, Computers & Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Networks, Journal of Global Optimization. She authored/ co-authored papers presented at over fifty international conferences and is a reviewer for major International Journals in the field of Operations Research/ Management Science. In 2006, Prof. Hadjiconstantinou was elected Fellow of the UK Operational Research Society (FORS) for her very high level of achievement in operational research (OR). Over the years, Prof. Hadjiconstantinou consulted for companies in the field of mathematical modelling and optimization. At Imperial College London, she supervised many PhD students and research associates and held a number of research projects, funded by industry, the EPSRC (UK) and the European Union (EU), in the fields of logistics, transportation and ports optimization. For many years, she taught operations and project management courses to undergraduate engineering and MBA students at Imperial College London and other European universities and she supervised several MBA/ MSc project dissertations. In addition, she is expert evaluator of research proposals, internal/ external examiner for several PhD theses at Imperial College and other UK universities and external examiner for BSc/ MSc Programs in Management Science (UK). At Frederick University, Prof. Hadjiconstantinou is the Director of the MBA Programme and the Director of the PhD Programme in Management. She is teaching project management courses to postgraduate students of both conventional and distance learning MBA programmes and to undergraduate engineering students. She participates in external committees of experts for the evaluation of academic departments and programmes of study of Greek universities, as well as, the institutional evaluation of universities in Greece.

Η Ελένη Χατζηκωνσταντίνου είναι Καθηγήτρια Διοικητικής Επιστήμης και εντάχθηκε στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick της Κύπρου το 2013, μετά από είκοσι δύο χρόνια ακαδημαϊκής σταδιοδρομίας στο Business School του Πανεπιστημίου Imperial College του Λονδίνου. Στο Frederick, η Καθ. Χατζηκωνσταντίνου είναι Κοσμήτορας της Σχολής Νομικής και Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων. Είναι κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού και διδακτορικού διπλώματος (DIC, PhD) από το Πανεπιστήμιο Imperial College του Λονδίνου στο τομέα της Επιχειρησιακής Έρευνας και πτυχιακού τίτλου (First Class, BSc Honours) στη Στατιστική και Πληροφορική από το Πανεπιστήμιο City του Λονδίνου. Το ερευνητικό της έργο τυγχάνει διεθνούς αναγνώρισης στους ακόλουθους τομείς: routing and distribution, transportation and logistics, production, resource planning, project scheduling, optimization of port terminal operations, network design and optimization, cutting and packing problems. Εξειδικεύεται στη διαμόρφωση μαθηματικών μοντέλων για προβλήματα της βιομηχανίας και στην ανάπτυξη μαθηματικών αλγορίθμων με σκοπό τη παροχή αποτελεσματικών και πρακτικών λύσεων σε διάφορους τομείς εφαρμογής. Τα αποτελέσματα αυτής της έρευνας συμβάλλουν στην αποτελεσματική λήψη αποφάσεων σε εταιρείες και οργανισμούς μέσω της χρήσης τεχνικών ανάλυσης, μοντέλων και μεθοδολογιών βελτιστοποίησης. Η Καθ. Χατζηκωνσταντίνου έχει σημαντικές δημοσιεύσεις σε ακαδημαϊκά περιοδικά υψηλού κύρους με κριτές, όπως: Operations Research, Computers & Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Networks, Journal of Global Optimization. Έχει μεγάλο αριθμό βιβλιογραφικών αναφορών και είναι κριτής σε σημαντικά διεθνή περιοδικά στον τομέα της επιχειρησιακής έρευνας και διοικητικής επιστήμης. Το 2006, εξελέγη Fellow της Εταιρείας Επιχειρησιακής Έρευνας του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου (FORS, Fellow of the UK Operational Research Society) για το πολύ υψηλό επίπεδο επιτευγμάτων της στην επιχειρησιακή έρευνα. Υπήρξε σύμβουλος διαχείρισης σε πολλές εταιρείες στον τομέα της μαθηματικής μοντελλοποίησης και βελτιστοποίησης. Κατά τη διάρκεια της ακαδημαϊκής της σταδιοδρομίας στο Imperial College του Λονδίνου, είχε την εποπτεία διδακτορικών φοιτητών και / ερευνητικών συνεργατών και ήταν υπεύθυνη για ερευνητικά προγράμματα, χρηματοδοτούμενα από τη βιομηχανία, το EPSRC (Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο) και την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ), στους τομείς των logistics, των μεταφορών και της βελτιστοποίησης στη λειτουργία λιμένων. Για σειρά ετών, ήταν Εξεταστής Διδακτορικών Διατριβών, δίδαξε Επιχειρησιακή Διοίκηση (Operations Management) και Διαχείριση Έργων (Project Management) σε προπτυχιακούς φοιτητές μηχανικής και φοιτητές MBA στο Imperial College και σε άλλα ευρωπαϊκά πανεπιστήμια και είχε την εποπτεία μεγάλου αριθμού μεταπτυχιακών διατριβών MBA/MSc. Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick, η Καθ. Χατζηκωνσταντίνου είναι Διευθύντρια του Μεταπτυχιακού Προγράμματος Σπουδών MBA και του Διδακτορικού Προγράμματος Σπουδών στη Διοίκηση. Διδάσκει μαθήματα Διαχείρισης Έργων σε μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές τόσο συμβατικών όσο και εξ αποστάσεως προγραμμάτων σπουδών MBA και σε προπτυχιακούς φοιτητές μηχανικής. Συμμετέχει σε εξωτερικές επιτροπές ως εμπειρογνωμόνων για την αξιολόγηση προγραμμάτων σπουδών και ακαδημαϊκών τμημάτων ελληνικών πανεπιστημίων, καθώς και για την ιδρυματική αξιολόγηση πανεπιστημίων στην Ελλάδα.
