Sculptures created by Frederick Institute of Technology students to be auctioned for a good cause
Students enrolled in the "Mechanical Installation Technician" program at Frederick Institute of Technology created 13 sculptures as part of the "Special Welding" course, which will be auctioned for a good cause on Sunday, 2nd June.
Using their creativity and professional knowledge, the students created 13 metal sculptures with the aim to help children hospitalized in the oncology unit of Makarios Hospital. The students worked under the guidance of Mr. Simos Markitanis, a member of the academic staff at Frederick Institute of Technology, who conceived the idea of exhibiting and auctioning the artworks so that all proceeds could be donated to support children with cancer.
The exhibition and auction of the artworks will take place on Sunday, June 2nd - World Children's Day, as part of an event organized by the Municipality of Nicosia titled "Nicosia, a Mosaic of Cultures," at Makarios Avenue - Spyridaki Square (360 Building) in Nicosia, from 18:00 to 21:00.
The sculptures were primarily made using scrap metal as part of recycling and reuse efforts.
