New project aims at shaping Higher Education Institutions for a sustainable future

Partners from five European countries involved in the HEI GreenPath project: Shaping HEI Environment for a Sustainable Tomorrow, met at Frederick University on February 4th for the project's inaugural meeting.

The HEI GreenPath project is a European initiative aimed at strengthening ecological awareness within the academic community. The project's goals include integrating green skills and the concept of sustainability into existing university curricula, providing knowledge and tools to faculty and research staff to effectively teach green skills, and enhancing collaboration between universities and partners in the labor market in the field of green skills.

During the meeting in our University's Nicosia campus, strategic planning for the implementation of the project actions was discussed. On behalf of Frederick University, the HEI GreenPath: Shaping HEI Environment for a Sustainable Tomorrow project is coordinated by the RIGE - Gender Equality and Inclusion Research Unit, led by Dr. Petroula Mavrikou, Associate Professor at the Department of Business Administration.

Τhe project is funded by the Erasmus+ KA220-HED program of the European Commission and has a duration of two years (October 1, 2024 - September 31, 2026). The project involves the University College of Enterprise and Administration, Lublin - WSPA (Poland) as coordinator, with partners from academic and research institutions: Frederick University (Cyprus), Agricultural University of Athens (Greece), Pegaso International Higher Education Institution (Malta), and International School for Social and Business Studies - ISSBS (Slovenia).
