Ο Δημήτρης Σωκράτους είναι ο Ανώτερος Φυσιοθεραπευτής της Μονάδας Φυσιοθεραπείας, του Ινστιτούτου Νευρολογίας και Γενετικής Κύπρου. Είναι υποψήφιος διδάκτορας στον τομέα της Νευροαποκατάστασης, στο Τμήμα Επιστημών Αποκατάστασης, Σχολής Επιστημών Υγείας, του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου (ΤΕΠΑΚ), με υποτροφία από το Ίδρυμα Κρατικών Υποτροφιών Κύπρου. Είναι κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου στις «Επιστήμες εγκεφάλου και γνωστικών επιστημών» από το ΤΕΠΑΚ, κάτοχος πτυχίου Φυσιοθεραπείας από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Καρόλου (Πράγα) και πτυχίου Επιστήμης Φυσικής Αγωγής και Αθλητισμού από το Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών. Από το 2020 αποτελεί μέλος του Ειδικού Διδακτικού Προσωπικού του πανεπιστημίου Frederick, της Σχολής Επιστημών Υγείας, στο πτυχίο Φυσικής Αγωγής και Αθλητισμού. Επίσης ο Δημήτρης Σωκράτους είναι εγγεγραμμένο μέλος του Παγκύπριου Συλλόγου Φυσιοθεραπευτών και του Παγύπριου Συνδέσμου Γυμναστών του Κυπριακού Οργανισμού Αθλητισμού. Ακόμη, αποτελεί μέλος της συμβουλευτικής επιστημονικής επιτροπής του Οργανισμού Ασφάλισης Υγείας σε ότι αφορά θέματα της φυσιοθεραπείας σε ενήλικες με νευρολογικές διαταραχές, όπως και μέλος της συμβουλευτικής επιστημονικής επιτροπής του Τμήματος Κοινωνικής Ενσωμάτωσης Ατόμων με Αναπηρία που αφορά τις αξιολογήσεις τροχοκαθισμάτων και τεχνικών μέσων. Είναι πρόεδρος της Εξειδικευμένης Ομάδας Νευρολογικής Φυσιοθεραπείας Κύπρου, από το 2023 και αποτελεί μέλος του World Federation for Neurorehabilitation, από το 2022. Στο παρελθόν (1997-2019) υπήρξε αθλητής και προπονητής υδατοσφαίρισης σε διάφορες ομάδες της Κύπρου με πολλές διακρίσεις. Τα επαγγελματικά και ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται στη νευροαποκατάσταση, άσκηση σε κλινικούς πληθυσμούς, νευροπλαστικότητα και Διακρανιακή Μαγνητική Διέγερσης (TMS).

Dimitris Socratous is the senior physiotherapist at the Physiotherapy Unit, of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. He is a PhD candidate in the field of Neurorehabilitation, at the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). He received his Master of Science Degree in "Brain and Cognitive Sciences" (Excellent) in 2018 from the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, of the CUT. Moreover he holds a Bachelor Science Degree in Physiotherapy (Excellent / Scholarship) (2012), from the Charles University of Prague, Czech Republic and a Bachelor Science Degree in Physical Education and Sports Science (Merit), from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, School of Health Sciences, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (2009). Since 2020, he is a member of the Special Teaching Staff at the Fredercik University, School of Health Sciences, in the undergraduate program of Physical Education and Sport Science. Dimitris Sokratous is a registered member of the Cyprus Association of Physiotherapists and of the Physical Educators and Sport Scientists Association of the Cyprus Sport Organization. Also, he is a consultant of the scientific committee for the physiotherapies of the adult neurological patents, at the Health Insurance Organization and he is a consultant as well of the of the scientific committee at the Department for Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, which is responsible for the assessments of wheelchair and technical aids, of disable persons. Additionally, he is the president of the Cyprus Neurological Physical Therapy Specialized Group, since 2023 and he is a member of the World Federation for Neurorehabilitation, since 2022. During the past years (1997-2019) he was a water polo player and coach in various teams in Cyprus with many awards. His professional and research interests are focused on neurorehabiliation, exercise in clinical population, neuroplasticity and on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
