Three full scholarships for Maritime Studies offered by leading shipping companies

Shipping Companies MSC Shipmanagement Cyprus and Fameline Holding Group Ltd offer scholarships and educational opportunities to support new students pursuing Maritime Studies at our University.

Frederick University was the first academic institution in Cyprus to offer studies in the field of Maritime.

These scholarships play a crucial role in developing the next generation of maritime professionals in Cyprus, as they are designed to attract and nurture talent in the maritime industry, ensuring a steady influx of skilled professionals. Apart from financial support, they also provide educational opportunities and practical experience through internships as well as partial funding of the maritime students’ annual Summer Field Trip to renowned maritime organizations in Europe. 

For the 2025–26 academic year, the following scholarships are being offered by leading shipping companies to new students at Frederick University:

- MSC Shipmanagement Cyprus, a subsidiary of the world’s largest container shipping company and a global leader in the maritime industry, is offering two (2) full scholarships covering the entire duration of the BSc in Maritime Studies.

- Fameline Holding Group Ltd, a diversified group comprising around 150 companies active in various sectors including shipping, is offering one (1) full scholarship covering the entire duration (4 years) of the BSc in Maritime Studies.

These scholarships are intended for students beginning their studies in the 2025–26 academic year.

Frederick University's BSc in Maritime Studies is one of the most up-to-date and comprehensive degrees available, covering the entire spectrum of shipping and international trade. The program is offered in Nicosia and Limassol by the Department of Maritime Transport and Commerce, which is recognized for its high graduate employment rate and excellent preparation of students for the challenges of the modern business world in the fields of shipping and global trade.

The Department maintains strong ties with the global maritime industry. Distinguished industry professionals are members of the Department’s Advisory Board. Partnering companies provide educational opportunities and hands-on experience through internship programs and partial funding for the Department’s annual educational trip. This trip includes visits to regulatory bodies and major shipping companies across Europe, such as the Port of Antwerp, shipyards like EDR, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Intercargo, the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, companies like Lloyd’s, the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the historic ship Cutty Sark.

Interested candidates must complete the relevant application form (for the MSC Shipmanagement Cyprus scholarships click here and for the Fameline scholarship click here) and submit it along with the required documents to adminfo@frederick.ac.cy by Monday, September 1, 2025.

All applications submitted by the deadline with the necessary documents will be evaluated by Evaluation Committees appointed by Frederick University and each of the sponsoring companies. The evaluation will be based on a point-based system that considers socioeconomic criteria, personality, and academic performance of the applicants.
