Educating the youth on clean energy and energy efficiency
As part of its commitment to raise awareness on the importance of energy efficiency and clean energy, Frederick University has included a dedicated section on renewable energy in its annual Summer School program for local pupils.
During this year’s Summer School, which took place on 6-9 June 2023, pupils engaged in various educational activities where they learned about different types of renewable energy sources and observed the use of photovoltaics for electricity production. They attended an interactive, hands-on workshop where they performed calculations in real conditions. Additionally, they visited Aeolian Dynamics Wind Farm to observe the operation of wind turbines and the production of wind energy. The program also included a visit to Mech, a state-of-the-art factory developing Hydrogen Technologies, where they learned about renewable energy sources that can ensure the sustainable development of our world.
Frederick University’s Summer School takes place every June and is attended by more than 80 pupils from Technical Schools in Cyprus. The pupils spend a week at the University's campuses in Nicosia and Limassol, experiencing campus life and getting a taste of various programs of study.
