5th Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week to be held in Limassol

Our University's Nature Conservation Unit is organizing the 5th Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week (5MPCW), to be held from April 7 to 11, 2025, at St. Raphael Resort & Marina in Limassol. Call for abstracts is now open. 

The 5MPCW aims to bring together specialists and enthusiasts in the research and management of nature, focusing on the conservation of wild plants and their habitats around the Mediterranean basin.
The Confrence also aims to build alliances for plant diversity conservation in the Mediterranean, attracting over 200 scientists and conservation specialists from more than 20 countries across the Mediterranean basin, including leading figures in biodiversity conservation.

It will showcase research and experiences through oral presentations and posters, covering topics such as plant and ecological sciences, citizen science, ethnobotany, local involvement, and sustainable management of plant resources.

The call for abstracts for the upcoming 5MPCW conference is now open.
Submission deadline is Sunday 31 December 2024 – 23:59 hrs.

The 5th MPCW is accepting different contribution types (oral and posters presentations) across a wide range of topics:
Ι. In situ, ex situ and integrated plant diversity conservation
II. Agriculture, pastoralism and forest management in plant conservation
III. Restoration and management of Mediterranean habitats and ecosystems
IV. Climate crisis and plant diversity
V. Plant conservation priorities within protected areas and IPAs in the Mediterranean
VI. Genetic tools and bioinformatics for plant conservation
VII. Plant conservation in Environmental Education and enhancement of environmental awareness
VIII. Participation of civil society in conservation projects
IX. Plant conservation and cultural heritage – networking with civilization, history and archaeology
X. Approaches and techniques for combating alien and invasive plant species.

All presentations (oral or poster) can be submitted for publication in a special issue of the Mediterranean Botany Journal (Scopus and ISI indexed) after a selection, peer review, process.

Every paper accepted at the Conference needs an author registered by the 10th of February 2025. Only two contributions (oral or poster) will be accepted by each participant.

All posters will be uploaded to (a participants-only area) the conference website during the conference.
