Civil Engineering students on a field trip to the Limassol-Saittas highway project

The Department of Civil Engineering organised an educational field trip to the construction site of Limassol-Saittas highway project on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The project is currently under construction and is expected to complete by February 2025.

Civil Engineering students participated in the field trip which proved to be a significant and worthy experience as students have observed on-site a number of engineering works including embankments, roundabouts, main and secondary roads, retaining walls, reinforced earth, in-situ testing etc.

The students were informed in detail about the project by the Public Works Department District Engineer Mr. Panicos Panayiotou and Project Engineer Ms. Eftychia Mavronikola.

Field trips are important components of the Civil Engineering degree at Frederick University and are frequently organised by the Department to help students in studying and understanding the complex nature and significance of Civil Engineering projects in practice and also to relate theory and design topics in real conditions.
