
Scholarships to students in the frame of Huawei's "Seeds for the Future" program

The University warmly congratulates its four students who are pursuing studies in the fields of Engineering and Technology, for their award and the scholarships provided through Huawei's "Seeds for the Future" program.
The technological giant, supporting young people from around the world with the aim of transforming the future of technology, has been offering incentives and opportunities through education in recent years. This year, scholarships based on students' academic performance, were awarded to students from five universities in the fields of Technology, Computer Science, and Communications (ICT).
The scholarships were presented in a ceremony held for the third time in Cyprus, on Wednesday, March 12, in the presence of the Ambassador of China to Cyprus, Mr. Liu Yantao.
Frederick University has participated in Huawei's "Seeds for the Future" program in both of the previous years, and this year, four students from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science benefited from the program. They are Alexios Mesvelianis (BSc in Computer Engineering), Andreas Komitis (BSc in Electrical Engineering), Giorgos Konstantinou (BSc in Computer Science), and Ioannis Charalambous (MSc in Web and Smart Systems).
Representing Frederick University at the ceremony were the President of the University Council, Ms. Natassa Frederickou, the Dean of the School of Engineering and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science, Professor Christos Themistos, and the Director of the Student Services and Welfare Office, Ms. Andrea Athanasiou.
In her speech at the event, Ms. Frederickou emphasized the University's commitment to excellence in education in the fields of Technology and Engineering. “This year marks 60 years of our continuous presence in the education sector,” said Ms. Frederickou. “Since then, Engineering and Technology have been at the heart of our activities, shaping the identity of our academic institution and guiding our mission.”
Thanking Huawei for its commitment to investing in education and new talent, Ms. Frederickou emphasized that "as a University, we firmly believe in the transformative power of technology and the role it can play in creating a sustainable, inclusive future. By offering innovative solutions and through pioneering research, technology can play a decisive role in addressing global challenges and creating new opportunities, with the ultimate goal of progress."
Addressing the students who secured scholarships, Ms. Frederickou said: "Your dedication, perseverance, and passion for excellence are an inspiration to us. Keep facing challenges, seeking new knowledge, and relentlessly pursuing your dreams."
