Frederick University, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cyprus, is co-organizing a lecture by distinguished photojournalist Eddy van Wessel at Frederick University in Nicosia.

The event will take place on Thursday, 26 February at 11:00 a.m. at the Tassos Papadopoulos Amphitheatre (1st floor, New Building).

Eddy van Wessel has been covering the war in Ukraine since its outbreak and continues to report from the front lines.

The event will focus primarily on the humanitarian dimension of the war, as well as on its media coverage.

The programme includes:
  • A brief introduction by the photographer about his work
  • A presentation of selected photographs and/or stories from Ukraine
  • A discussion (Q&A) with the audience
The presentation will offer an in-depth look at what it means to be a war correspondent, through discussion of both the visual material and its context.

It will also highlight the importance of accurate, objective, and timely conflict reporting, and address the challenges of covering a war in such complex battlefields, particularly in the information age.

The event is open to all students, administrative and academic staff.
