Renowned sculptor Costas Varotsos is giving a lecture titled "Art: Nature, Urban Space, History" at our Nicosia campus on Friday, October 11. The lecture is co-organized with Nicosia 2030, a candidate city for the European Capital of Culture.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. in our University's main event hall (new building, 1st floor, 7 Yiannis Frederickou str, Pallouriotissa). Costas Varotsos's lecture is part of the Parallel Program of the Nicosia International Festival 2024 and includes a presentation of the artist's sculptures located in many cities around the world, along with a discussion on the role of art in relation to nature, the urban space, and the history of cities.

Costas Varotsos studied at the School of Fine Arts in Rome and at the Architecture School in Pescara, Italy. He is a member of the Engelberg Academy in Switzerland. His artworks can be found in public spaces in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Egypt, and the USA. His works are created in direct relation to the natural environment. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has received many awards. In 2014, he was honored by the President of the Italian Republic with the Cavaliere de la Republica Italiana award for his contribution to the arts, and in 2017, he received the Commander’s Medal of the Order of Honor from the President of the Hellenic Republic.
