Strengthening Collaboration Between Frederick University & the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers

The Department of Civil Engineering at Frederick University recently held a meeting with the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers (CYACE), the official professional body representing civil engineers in Cyprus and internationally since 1992.

The meeting focused on key issues concerning the civil engineering profession, including the education and professional support of engineers—particularly young professionals—occupational health and safety, remuneration, and the current demand for civil engineers in the construction sector. Both parties explored ways to highlight career opportunities and promote the profession more widely.

Discussions also covered the joint organisation of informative and educational seminars for students and strategies to encourage their active participation in CYACE—initially as student members and later as full professional members.

Both Frederick University and CYACE share a common goal: to elevate the professional status and public understanding of the role of civil engineers in society. The meeting was highly productive, and both sides expressed their commitment to continued collaboration. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for the autumn to advance the agreed initiatives.
